Are you saying the Cubs aren't talented? Still, this is a far different point than simply saying "2016 happened" like it somehow makes him forever a good manager because of it.

Juiced wrote:
Maddon has a .588 W/L% with the Cubs. Ozzie had .524 with the White Sox. 2006 being his best year at .611 compared to Maddon's .655! in 2016.

Sparky Anderson has a .545 for his career and he is considered one of the best in the history of the game.
So, why did you just say "2016 happened" if you wanted to talk about his whole time with the Cubs?

Could it be that you are backtracking because you used to mock Sox fans for thinking that 2005 was all that mattered?

2016 happened.

I am glad you and other Cubs fans now have a complete understanding that winning one title is all that matters.

Maddon is not the problem. That is what I am saying.

Agreed. The manager doesn't matter. Play better.

This guy gets it. Instant sports radio turnoff is an hour long discussion of managerial moves. It's Maddons fault they managed one run off that stiff Wainwright yesterday.

You can be a talented team and not win. MANY examples of this across all sports. Are the Cubs AS talented as Dodgers or the Astros? No, and that is on Theo.

It's not like he has a sub .500 W/L% Then your argument would make sense. He is up there with the best managers of all time. Winning in 2016 was not a fluke for Maddon. He is a proven winner.

JORR said what has Maddon done since he joined the Cubs. I pointed out 2016 is a pretty good achievement since joining the Cubs.

I mocked Sox fans for 2005 10 yrs later typing 2005. Don't believe you will see any post of me mocking the White Sox in 2006-2015. Maybe one or two toward the '15 year :D Hard to remember they have sucked for so long, it all becomes a blurr of suckness.

I get that point of view. But in the end 2016!

How it happened does not matter. IT DID HAPPEN! You think they get to the World Series with try hard Ricky as manager?

 Holy shit. You literally said that we would not find any post of yours mocking the White Sox for the ten year stretch after they won the WS.

You have 390 posts in the Sox section, of which 245 were made before January 2016.

You are absolutely a troll. A bad troll. A very, very stupid troll. At least when dolphin and IMU troll there is some substance behind it at times.

Of course you wouldn't mock the 2005 reference until 2016. That would be monumentally stupid given the last time the Cubs won the World Series.

Madden is a good manager. Renteria is a bum manager. The CUBS STILL SUCK over-all.

Sox just got done playing the Mets. Tuesday's game went 12 innings, Sox scored two runs. Wednesday's game went 9 innings, Sox scored two runs...one of which was basically a meaningless HR in the bottom of the 9th.

What does Raw Deal Ricky do on Thursday? Trots the exact same first five guys in the lineup out there. Sox get shut out.

I know he can only play who is on the roster, and Moncada is out of commission with a hamstring, but goddam can he even mix things up just a little bit? I know MANY hitters are struggling right now, but what would have been wrong with batting Engel 2nd, Eloy 3rd, Abreu 6th, Timmy 5th? Anything. Something to try and jump start a little bit of offense here and there. AJ Reed is closer to hitting .100 than he is .200, yet he was the DH and cleanup guy for every game in the series. You bat this clown but couldn't find at bats for Zach Collins? smfh.

4-16 since the all-star break.
Ricky isn't much of a manager, but this team is pretty light on talent.

I hate to say this but it looks like these guys have packed it in. Talk about your entire batting order in a major slump. The injuries definitely hurt and the holes in the order are there. And the guys to fill those holes are weak 3A type guys. They talk about the dog days of summer. Watching McCann getting beat up behind the plate and toughing it out without a guy in the dugout to spell him is sad.

Uncle Jerry was decades ahead of the curve when it comes to managers and coaches. He gets no credit for it.

2016 happened.

I am glad you and other Cubs fans now have a complete understanding that winning one title is all that matters.
Winning one title is a failure according to self proclaimed baseball expert IMU.

Poor Juiced. He must not remember that short of forfeiting the game, Maddon did literally everything he could to try and lose.

and I think its time to shoot back at Rozner that The Plan was neither some ground breaking brain child of a genius nor was it really the reason for that one lucky world series

They had an incredibly fortunate run of buying low on huge veteran producers like Arrietta, Strop and Rondon who just happened to get their rest and eat their vitamins in Chicago. Funny how Theo teams seem to find the perfect vitamins for his players over the last 20 years.

In fairness to Theo, it's more than buying low on veteran talent. It seemed like every highly touted young player they brought in, with the exception of Alcantara, turned into at least a reasonable major leaguer. That's a better record than most organizations can claim.
