Man, that line-up is horrific. Castillo and Engel have to be two of the worse hitters at their position in all of baseball. Why they are in baseball at all is amazing. This is what I actually hate about this season. YOu know that they have better talent in the organization than this but they are keeping it under wraps. Its frustrating to watch. Its also silly to listen to the announcers talk about how much "progress" these guys and others are making it doesn't pass the eye test whatsoever.

I think they need two veteran SP signings. They have a mix of:

Giolito
Cease
Kopech
Lopez
Rodon
FA

Kopech and Cease will be on innings limitations next year. Rodon won't be available until mid season and even then will not be 100%. Presumably your big FA acquisition is going to be a workhorse. Giolito should be ready to push for 200 innings. Lopez already pushed that number.

I wish there was a guy at AA who was climbing who would be that guy they turned to for spot starts and then some regular work by August-September when Kopech and Cease get shut down. Dunning looks like he would have been that guy.

I think, instead, they need to find a reliable guy they can sign to a minor league deal and stash him down there.
