the only thing that they can get clicks on is barstool "hit" pieces

their comment section is full of insufferable fart smelling douches. not quite the toxic wasteland that is barstool or fox news comments... but never good

The absolute best part of the Deadspin comment section is guys named "Encyclopaedia Martin Gramatica," "Devin Hester Prynne," and "Isringhausen by Proxy" all being like "hey, you know who sucked? Chris Berman."

Top comments on Deadspin used to be suck.com worthy hits. Not so much these days. They seem to promote either inside Deadspin comments or political takes. Visit the site with your ad-blockers off and good luck finding any content at all. Even with ghostery and ublock origin 2 of the top 3 stories are embedded ads masquerading as content for swim trunks & 10 best August deals. Barstool and Ringer generate revenue via podcasts. Only podcast I've heard from Deadspin is a weekly Deadcast with Magary; which strangely doesn't seem to have any ad spots. Or maybe they run ads at the end and my attention span doesn't make it that far.

Apparently Deadspin or their parent company distributed a new employee handbook last week:

- employees cars now subject to search, as well as personal bags, anuses, lunch boxes/bags, parcels delivered to ee's @work
- Deadspin can review any and all electronic communications conducted while on company property, including communications to/from employees' personal electronic devices?
- Deadspin needs the password to all employees twitter accounts. [not sure if that includes non-twitter social media]
- No more pgp or other encrypted email communication. [ i imagine Deadspin's sources for tips will love that one]
- New dress code: basically Deadspin employees must dress like Blockbuster video clerks while at work.
- Also, be at your desk by 9:30 and no leaving before 5:30.

hmm,, it seems like this is just being done so their staff can generate content that bitches about the rules
