Agreed, .800 OPS is the peak. Hence the thread.

This will now be two consecutive seasons Abreu sits around .800. This is who he is.

As a baseball fan, you do not want the White Sox to resign him. This has forever been my point. Do with it what you will.

Nope.

Seems to me a true baseball Messiah would have known that hitter as good as Jose Abreu you would eventually get his OPS back well above 800. You sir, are nothing more than a poser.

He went up to .830 about a month ago and then fell into the .760s. You've claimed victory what...3 times now? And after all 3 he fell back under .800.

So guys can go above and below .800 in a season? Wow!

See, the thing about baseball, is that it is a marathon. Its not a sprint. Since you 'try' to teach people so much about baseball, its time you had a lesson here yourself. Baseball teams play 162 games. Occasionally they will play 161 or 163 games, but usually its a 162 games season. Over that course of times, guys will slump- which means their OPS will go down. Likewise, guys get hot- which means their OPS goes up.

Abreu had a pretty nasty slump for most of July, with an Almoraesque OPS of .628. However, thru 15 games in August, his OPS is nearly 1.100. Peaks and Valleys. Abreu's OPS was under .800 in May, but he also clubbed 10 HRs. His OPS for April and June was well above .800.

By the end of the season- the marathon if you will- I'm fully confident that Abreu's OPS will be above .800, as it has been for his entire careers sans an injury plagued/shortened 2018.

When the season is over, I'll claim victory. Until then, I'll take any chance I can in these horrific threads you start to make you look so utterly foolish.

Now 4th in RBIs in the AL. Hitting .280 and 26 HRs. Truly an ALL-STAR and will be for the next 2-3 years. He deserves also to get a World Series championship and will get one if Reinny ponies up for some pitchers.

Blah blah blah you said the same last year and he was below .800. Same song and dance.

IMU is shook. Maybe he is better at Chutes and Ladders than Peaks and Valleys.

  Blah Blah Blah you've been saying the same thing about Jose Abreu all season, and then he goes right back over 800 OPS.

Shook and thoroughly schooled.

And he goes right back under .800. He is an .800 player. Not a Top 10 first baseman. That's all there is.

The game is still ongoing. He could very well get above 800 by the end of the game. Peaks and valleys, Chutes and Ladders. Do you need me to post in crayon so you can understand?

Here's a thought. Instead of dedicating so much time to posting about Abreu in the Sox section, maybe you should worry about your own teams shitfuck Bullpen and how they're going to cost your beloved baseball team a playoff berth!

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again... I fucking hate bullpens and my managers need to use it.

Abreu is 0-3, and still over 800 OPS. Rough night for IMU.

He's actually amazingly consistent, having an OPS of .797 since May 18th...3 months. He has been within about .030 above or below that entire time. That is a variance of 3.75% each way. Hardly what any statistician would refer to as peaks and valleys.

I would not call a 70 point swing in OPS consistent, but whatever.

When it happens several times over the course of 3 months, I would. Both his 'peaks' and 'valleys' as you call them, and his average OPS, are always the same this season, after you remove the first month of the season with large swings due to small sample size. Hot streak, cold streak, hot streak, cold streak.

So who is Abreu? Hot and cold, or steady Eddie?

He is a player with an .800 OPS over any decently sized stretch.

How you get there doesn't matter, does it? I think I'd rather have a player who is consistently .800 over the course of a season, versus someone that would have a week of 1-5 or 0-4 days but I've never really looked at how it would affect true runs scored for a team. Maybe small stretches where Abreu has 10 XBH over 7 games makes the cold streaks worth it? Doesn't seem like it, but who knows.

So Frank gets upset when Abreu has a .798 OPS but .800 even and Frank wins the thread?

I win even when I 'lose!'

I did not realize Frank's sensitivity is that delicate.
