Comedy series on Netflix set in (London)Derry, Northern Ireland during the troubles (the year is nondescript). Irish Catholic high school girls and one boy from England who has to attend the all girls school because of fear of reprisals at an all boys school. Funny stuff. I ran through all six episodes in one night. Worth a shot.

These European produced shows don't seem as hung up on hiring beautiful actors as we do and so, they get solidly acted products that feel more authentic.

Seconded.
We watched 3 or 4 of them Friday night.
The girl who plays Erin is like 25 in real life, but is a doppelganger for my first true high school love (without the accent and catholic school uniform).
It was quite funny, and it doesn't come close to beating you over the head with politics or religion.
Just a solid show. I wish there were more of them.

Thanks for the tip GD. The wife and I just finished the series and enjoyed it quite a bit. That’s one of the things I love about this board - recommendations for TV, movies, books, music, etc have expanded my entertainment exposure considerably.

I would have guessed it was a Stephen King series based on the title alone.

I don't know when season 2 was released but I have been watching it over the past week. It was better than season 1, and I really enjoyed season 1. I particularly like episodes 3 and 4.

These are snappy, sub 30 minute shows with six episode seasons so it isn't exactly a huge investment of time needed. Also, it is sitcom like where the episodes are not connected so you do not need to watch every episode or in a sequence. Each story is encapsulated within the episode.

If you aren't watching, you are missing something. Sure, the language barrier sucks at times but at many others it enhances the humor.

The nun is my favorite character but there is a lot of fine acting. I think all of these girls are well beyond their early teenage years yet they capture the teen mindset very well. I also love how everyone just abuses James leg Meg in Family Guy. I also think its funny that they reference his odd accent, even though I can't tell the difference between it and the Irish.

This show is very funny, and the short run-length is kind of nice as mentioned above. One comment I have about it is that it is exhausting to watch. The accents are so thick, you really need to be paying close attention to understand some of the characters. The talk so fast and SO Irish it can be tough to understand every word that is being said. My favorite aspect of the show is the disdain Erin's grandfather has for his son-in-law, its really funny. That old man cracks me up.
