Putting in a patio in the back yard. I want to get a fire pit to help contribute to global warming -- I'm going to burn firewood from trees that were cut down in far away places and shipped on trucks.

Any input before I make this important decision?

hack up your neighbors' work trucks when they are on vacation and get the fire hot enough to melt metal

I'd recommend keeping it 50 feet from the house and 200 feet from lipidquadcab.

I go for the metal one that you can move around. It has to be replaced every couple of years but it is reasonable. I think you really have to plan the entire backyard if you are going for a stone one that is permanent to a spot

We got a ring from a oil pipeline jobsite. It was a test piece from a 4ft tube. Super heavy, it will last forever. We surrounded it with free bricks that were given away when the city tore up an old road. Total cost of the project was about $9 for sand.

Also, don't have plastic chairs anywhere near it ... someone will eventually throw at least one in there.

After your tales of terrorizing neighbors of yours, I hope you check all of the People's Republic requirements and get all of the permits.

This is the correct solution. We have a movable one and it is all over the place depending on the season and weather. And I keep it in the garage when not in use which keeps it from rusting out. I'll guess ours is 10 years old and in great shape.

Looks kind of like this.
