I don't think we should celebrate victimhood or turn her into a celebrity. She's not a hero for getting blackout drunk at a college party, but that's how she is being portrayed.

Meanwhile the kid and his family are dismissed as trash. He was really drunk and 19. Pretty tough to have your worst moment define you at that age.

She was given a platform because of the leniency given to her attacker after being convicted of a serious crime. Had he been sentenced to 5-10 years this likely isn't a story.

The kid was kicked out of school, kicked out of USA swimming, and sent to jail for 6 months. He's a registered sex offender. He was 19. She was 24, and they were both very drunk. Sending him to jail for 10 years on a first time offense seems pretty draconian.

I clearly stated my disagreement with the case, but you've instead claimed to have insight into my inner thoughts and state of mind. The problem is that there is an effort to blame every alcohol fueled encounter on males, the standard of evidence is being reduced to believe all women, and there is now precedent that this is a path to financial rewards and a level of fame.

I disagree with that. It's a discussion on a message board. If you can't do anything more than say you are angry then the discussion is over.
