The entire pitching staff never really got going this season.

Javy going down is the definitive nail in the coffin.

Cardinals have that team of destiny feel. There would be no excuse to lose out to the Brewers. Yelich is out and that team sucks. I don't know how they have put together two winning seasons in a row with this group

This is the year where the draft position players and buy pitching philosophy caught up to them. The problem with buying pitching is that it's expensive and your rolling dice on a guy that another team gave up on because he sucked. Not having a dependable bullpen tears the heart out of a team because no lead is safe.

The Cardinals have a nice starting rotation and a solid pen. The Brewers are a rag tag collection of 4A shit. They have or at least had a negative run differential last week. Their rotation is absolute garbage. Their offense other than Grandal and Moose would be DFA'd from nearly every other team's spring training roster. How the hell they get better as their roster gets worse is mind blowing. It's like that Kratz guy last year. 38 year old bullpen coach has a career year and then some nearly 2 years after his last mlb ab?

I’d say here.

I can’t speak for all Cub fans, but as a Cub Fan, it’s been fun watching you melt down these past few years.

Keeps me coming back.

It's been a rough baseball decade for Dolphin.

is it considered making the playoffs if the cubs and brewers tie for the last wild card spot and the cubs lose in a game 163?

Your trolling game is failing you GD, just like the White Sox rebuild. You should have left off the "For Watching the Meltdown" and put that in the first post. Get it together man.

This section has been dead. Team is in a thick of a pennant/WC race and after series threads every series for the past four years, threads started for every one of Joe'e goofy lineup changes, there is nothing for the most important ones this year. IMU is posting more about Jose Abreu than anyone is about the Cubs. Bunch of spoiled bandwagoners.

Don't get me wrong, a Cub-less October would be glorious, but for chrissakes support your fucking team.

To be honest Frank, I have Cubs fatigue. I fully expected that the offense was going to be even better in 2017 with Schwarber full time and then between that Dodgers series in 2017 and last year's debacle down the stretch, I needed a year of downtime. So I've barely followed them this year. If they win, great. If not, I didn't invest much. Maybe that makes me a horrible fan, but that's where my head is.

One winning season in 11 years is much worse than this.

I don't think that with Baez and Rizzo both out, the team should be given the same level of expectation to play at a high level and win, to the same extent as a fully healthy squad would be expected to win. Add Kimbrel to the list too, until he returns. If you're satisfaction in life is too dependent on how well athletic teams fare......you're doing it wrong. It's entertainment. Enjoy it. Another dramatic September for the Cubs. Will they win the division? A wild card? Impossible to know at this point. I'll be at Wrigley on Saturday enjoying watching it unfold. Glad to have a team still worth watching in September, with a chance still, to compete for all the marbles. Not at all a likely scenario. But they are still in the mix.

Steve, even with Baez and Rizzo in the lineup this year, its been the same offensive inconsistencies they had last year. The injuries don't help, but its not an excuse. Last year the offense was go several games without scoring runs or only managing one or two hits. Same problem this year. Sure I want to watch a competitive team, but this team was built to be like the other powerhouses (Dodgers, Astros, Yankees) and the past two years they haven't been able to hit against the fucking Reds. The fucking Reds, Steve. They lost tonight to a guy that is vying for the most consecutive losses in the history of baseball. Maybe even the history of all sports, who knows. Everyone should be as frustrated as they are.
