CH nailed it.....Just what i needed should have been song #1 on the first album. Such a great way to start.

They captured the adolescent boy infatuation with that certain girl perfectly. What is odd is he was like 35 when he was writing them. or maybe Ocasek didn't write them?

Anyway, great band. top 10 US for sure.

really? i had no problem with "jackson cannery"...in fact i don't think i ever had an issue with how ben folds/five ever started their albums.

plus i think ben's piano skills outweighed his vocals, so starting an album with just him singing may have been a misstep.

I like those big ham-fisted chords on "Jackson Cannery" too but "Best Imitation of Myself" is such a mission statement that it feels like it should be your formal introduction.
