He looks lost. Inexperienced. I will personally say he absolutely should have been gaining exp in preseason and his terrible accuracy, decision making, and inability to read defense could have been at least slightly mitigated with a few games before the GB game. It would be worth the risk to his health.
Is that crazy?

You can say fuck all to preseason when you're Rogers or brees. Not when you're Mitch.

I dunno a few quarters. Either way we have to admit hes either rusty or regressing. I'd prefer to pray its rust.

I'd have to say yes.

And the weird thing is Nagy kept talking about how Mitch was now in 202 of the offense and he had improved. And then all the reporters were talking about how bad Mitch looked in camp.

Last year they didn't take preseason seriously at all either. I remember it was a common complaint because they fell apart in both the Green Bay and Miami games.

Personally I dont think Mitch would be sporting a 158 QB rating if he had taken a few meaningless snaps against opponents just trying to not get hurt. Quit trying to hunt for conditions that cause his ineffectiveness and start to reckon with the distinct possibility that Mitch is by nature ineffective.

He just made a clutch throw on 4 and forever to help the Bears win a game and he's still being shitted on. He'll be fine.

I just don't know.

Is it because the league has caught up to Nagy? I mean, the Vikings game at the end of the regular season last year wasn't too bad, but boy did the Eagles make Nagy shit the bed most of that playoff game. Its possible that the first two games look so bad because Nagy is trying to figure out new options to work (like running Mike Davis a lot because that's a really fucking good idea you dumb shit).

Is it because Mitch somehow regressed or the league figured out something about him? I think this is more likely. That comment from the Packers about making him play QB was pretty damning. I haven't heard that a lot in this league. He's really missing on throws. His second to last throw in the Broncos game was badly behind Robinson. Any good QB makes that throw. If this is the came, no amount of pre-season games is going to help him.

Right. Let's analyze that throw though. He was way outside what his instinct tells him to do. He couldn't flush outside. He stepped up in the pocket, for the first time this whole season. That's not what he really is or does, it was a bloody accident.

Okay, he stepped up in the pocket and threw to a guy that had no one close to him and it was a straight throw. Fine. When there was pressure on the receiver literally the throw right before that? He throw it behind Robinson when he had time to step into his throw. I think he deserves to be shit on. Sorry.

(Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky appeared to have turned the corner week four of last year and was steadily improving until the Harrison Smith hit knocked him out two weeks. He has not looked nearly as good since.

I dont think he is still hurt from that, but I do believe it knocked him off his rhythm and had a stark affect on his confidence. He is back to having those scared eyes again.

You take a risk trying to turn an athlete into a QB. Pace took the risk. It failed. Mitch doesn't have "it" whatever that it is.

His throw to Robinson was perfect. Robinson didn't flatten out his route according to Nagy. His overthrow to Gabriel was perfect too. Gabriel cut off his route. Things like this is what (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky was talking about when he said we're off by inches. He's trying to be the leader and fall on the sword even though his teammates are making him look bad.

He did the same thing in Philadelphia and Miami last year too. Funny things happens to him when he isn't micromanaged by his coach.

You're wrong! You should listen to Nagy more. That pass was perfect. It was Robinson who fucked up.

It was? I didn't see that. Take the crap broadcast team for what its worth, but they even called it out that if he just would have thrown in front of Robinson, he makes that catch. I won't act like I know that the receivers are or are not getting enough separation or missing routes, but I heard all this same shit with Cutler, so I'm a little jaded with thinking its not a QB issue. I wonder if you hear these same issues with routes and separation with other QBs like Watson, Wilson, Brady, etc.

It is the other 10 QBs I've watched consistently hit receivers during a game AND be able to step up at the end of the game. If the defense wasn't the best in the league, (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky wouldn't even have these last minute opportunities.

Because of Mahomes and our history of general suckage at the position fans are hyper critical of everything. I imagine the players and coaches of other teams do the same. I don't think (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky is a guy who will ever point the finger. He just walks off the field. I guess Nagy decided to speak for him this week.

That's very possible. Its very possible this is also a Nagy issue. As we talked about before, when he seemed to take the game over at the end of the Eagles game, he did stuff I hadn't seen all season. He exposed a corner consistently. He was juking on his throws. The guy looked dialed in. I fully expected that again at the start of this year, so it might be why I'm so frustrated.

Nagy overloads (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky with crap on every play. That level of micromanaging is detrimental. It's no surprise that he looks different when he isn't trying to remember the thousands of things Nagy is telling him on every play. Let the kid play!

Now I am confused. I thought mitch received a dumbed down playbook last year and was still only on playbook 1.2 this season.

Many that is true, but an incomplete statement.

He just made a clutch throw on 4 and forever to help the Bears win a game and he's still being shitted on. He'll be fine.

Right. Let's analyze that throw though. He was way outside what his instinct tells him to do. He couldn't flush outside. He stepped up in the pocket, for the first time this whole season. That's not what he really is or does, it was a bloody accident.

He did the same thing in Philadelphia and Miami last year too. Funny things happens to him when he isn't micromanaged by his coach.

Last year? Dude he should be doing shit like that half a dozen times a game.

He's being micromanaged by his coaches. When he's allowed to play freely without the Nagy shackles he looks like a different guy.

I agree. I expected it too. Nagy couldn't micromanage him then. He played with a level of freedom and instinct that we didn't see often.
