He had a bad start last year but showed a lot of improvement at the season went on.

If he is a bust should they cut him today?

Trade him for Manning and then draft a QB next year?

Yes. Have to avoid the fallacy of the sunk cost: just because there's an enormous investment in (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky doesn't mean we have to stick with the horrible return. Cut your losses and course correct before the window shuts. I'd rather have Eli Manning back there at this point.

Ok. I think we have officially jumped the shark on Mitch criticism.

At the end of the year you can seriously consider getting rid of (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky. In season he is still the best option. If he plays as well as last year it is better than anyone else you can get.

Eli Manning can hit WRs in the hands and read defenses. That's all we need at this point.

So can Mitch. Neither do it well or often, but Mitch at least can run when he can't throw. Eli is fucking terrible at everything.

Shocking that FF doesn't want to see a HOF quarterback on the Bears

Oh let's be clear here. I would LOVE for the Bears to trade for Eli. It's one of the few things that would get me back listening to local sports radio instantly.

I'm sort of grateful that the Bears don't really have the draft capital to make such a deal

Remember Mitch’s Pro Bowl Precision Passing performance when the stationary targets were running the wrong routes?

He got 11 points. That was more than the QB who went before him in the NFC and possibly more than the AFC quarterbacks.

Good enough to lead the AFC by 4. Which player had the most points?

Thielan is probably the Vikings best quarterback.

Mitch can't read defenses. Eli can. Eli would generate more production in this offense than Mitch has. That's not saying Eli is good - it's just saying how bad Mitch has been.

If he is a bust should they cut him today?

Did he really improve as the season went on or did the perception of him change as the wins piled up? I realize QBR is not a perfect stat but he was consistently inconsistent in that regard in 2018.

His QBR was > 100 in games 4, 5, 7, 9, 14 & 15.
His QBR was < 90 in games 1, 2, 3, 6, 8, 10, 13 & 16 (also the play-off game).

Oddly he never had a rating in the 90's, which would seem to indicate that on any given day he was either really good or bad but never just average.

Yes, he did improve after a bad first few games.

Nothing wrong with being inconsistent as a second year player either. It's much more of a problem if he continues to have a roller coaster like that this year.

Other than a couple of hiccups he was good to great after the first few weeks. Here is his game log.

Eli wouldn’t be more productive. He would just turn the ball over more than Mitch and y’all would be 0-2 right now.

He was 89.6 in the playoffs and 85.9 the game before that. Based on the game log he really only had 1 stinker.

I also don't really think QBR is really a stat to use against (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky last year considering he finished 3rd in the league in total qbr and was only behind Brees and Mahomes.

Yeah..QBR is another useless stat, i thought i heard Mitch was 4th though..behind Winston. Nobody who knows anything about football thinks Winston n Mitch were better than Rogers, Ryan, Rivers and a dozen other guys.

I don't think Mitch and Winston are better than Rodgers obviously, but Rodgers was awful last year.

QBR is flawed because of how much value it gives to quarterbacks who run well and (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky is the best running quarterback in the league outside of some guy I've never heard of named Josh Allen. I would guess he was a quarterback but he actually had a negative QBR as a passer.

People that say X stat is useless are morons. Just as people that harp on one stat are too. Even 'made up' stats like QBR and WAR serve a purpose, but its best to look at them alongside other numbers to paint a full picture.
