It doesn't matter what a bunch of dolts on a message board think. Only one guy gets paid big bucks to evaluate and select the players. In Mitch's case they went all in and put the foreseeable future of the franchise in his hands. If Gase was wrong then it is on him. No excuses.

Just have to know a little about football to see the obvious. Just about every analyst says the exact same thing? Is there such a thing as "in town stupid", but "mods" will delete this anyway because they apparently don't like posts that embarrass members of the boyquarium.

No you didn't. There were like 8 posts bumped last night, and the only one who said anything about Mahomes was Walt. And he didn't even say anything about him being great or an MVP or whatever, he just posted a picture of the dude

There was hardly a word said about (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky prior to draft night.

Yes, ideally a GM shouldn’t miss on a 1st rd QB, but it happens. You can draft a Bortles, but you can’t double down and give him an extension.

I understand that. Most people aren't able to. Doc and GD are usually great and a few others are solid too. My point was that no one knew what Mahomes was going to be. Kinda like Brady and Montana and a few other greats. You and the people who get paid to watch tape had Mahomes as a 2nd or 3rd round guy and had (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky as the best quarterback in the draft.

I wanted them to trade down and draft Jamal Adams. I didn't trust any of the QB as picks 1-3.

It's weird that people are bailing on Mitch pretty quickly after defending Jay years and years after it was obvious he was a bust

I would say they were way too generous with Jay and now they are going way too far the other way and jumping ship a bit too early

Part of it, in fact a lot of it, is due to the history of the Bear's making shitty decisions on QB. Nothing will ever satisfy Bear's fans in this regard. They are frustrated and think that the team is DOOMED. Its just the way it is and has been like forever.

I now this, (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky has done nothing to warrant all of the disgust and hate from many on this board. It is ridiculous. They don't go 13-5 in the NFL if their QB isn't AT LEAST decent to good.

If people want to assign blame on why the offense isn't better, look to Nagy and the two piece of shit offensive tackles that they have. Throw in also the lack of a big play tight end and/or go to receiver.

GM's of championship teams do not miss on 1st round players, period. Yet alone....QB.

GM's of EVERY team miss on first round players. How many great or HoF players have the Patriots drafted in the first round during their 20 year run? The key is to not suck draft players for consecutive years. The Bears stretch with Emery was AWFUL. Pace has changed that.

Most first round quarterbacks fail to meet expectations. It's a lottery ticket with the highest payout when you hit it.

Go look at the draft position and number of quarterbacks picked before the list of recent Super Bowl winning quarterbacks. It shows just how much luck is involved in it.

Finding a franchise QB is certainly not an easy task....but it's their fucking job. The GMs that are good at their jobs win championships. I want my team to have one of those GMs. Clearly...the Bears do not.

If you all have a different standard.....good for you.

You are underestimating the variability of the position.

Since John Elway, only the Manning brothers won a Super Bowl as the first quarterback taken in the draft. I don't mean first pick overall. I mean the first one picked.

Tom Brady skews the numbers somewhat but most of the championship quarterbacks weren't even first round picks meaning in most cases, the championship GMs passed on that same quarterback at least one time themselves.

However, if you look at it that way, then it was incredibly stupid to trade up to get (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky given the roughly equal chance of success if you had to settle for your choice of Mahomes or Watson but the major point is that no GM is really great at picking quarterbacks. Even Belichick has had every qb who left them fail to deliver though Jimmy G is still pretty unknown.

It is absolutely way too early to say if Nagy sucks. He is the defending coach of the year, coming off of a 12 win Division Champion season. He is off to a terrific start.

There is a body of work with Pace, but his last couple of drafts have been pretty solid. Keep in mind he basically had a minor league football team here when he took over. He has not nailed down the QB position yet. The book is not written on him yet and while he got off to a rocky start, he definitely has done better in recent years. He may not be great, but he does not suck.

The time for Mitch to prove if he sucks or not is the next 6-8 games. Even if he becomes 'game manager' Mitch and doesn't set the stat sheet on fire, the potential to win a Super Bowl is still there given the way the Bears roster is built (a positive for Pace). It's happened in the not-too-distant pass.

I was thinking more along the lines of Flacco, Eli, Kaepernick, Foles etc. QB's who aren't top 5/elite but still made/won a Super Bowl.

And I meant "past"

He just threw Nagy under the bus. He said he's trying to be a mediator between the coaches and the guys on offense. There are plays, routes and other things that his teammates hate and he's trying to do a better job being open and honest about those things. He also said that they may need to practice more scramble drills so guys can understand what to do when he gets outside of the pocket.

Sounds like Nagy is the problem as we all suspected.

He was supposed to have other more senior geniuses on staff to help him.

This thread won't age well.

It is appropriate the Bears will go to Washington DC to Make Mitch Great Again
