Does Nico run well enough to leadoff? Maybe he's more of a #2 hitter.

Well, he's obviously not going to do that.

He could. They have lost 5 1 run games in a row that have effectively ended their season. Regardless of what has happened the rest of the year those 5 games were each winnable. Joe's lack of fundamental discipline and his bullpen management have directly led to all 5 losses. Terrible bullpen/double switch management, terrible choices on who to pitch (injured/needs low leverage situations Kimbrel twice) and the 3 outs on the base paths in 3 separate games.

I didn't say he couldn't ... I'm saying he will not do that. It serves zero positive purpose.

Joe's pretty bad about pitching, but it's also not his fault that, by and large, his choices most of the year were a parade of turds.

I've had my fill of "bat whoever at leadoff". I'm all good with numbers, but you can keep the numbers on this one. Get a damned contact hitter with some speed to bat #1 so you're not wasting Rizzo at leadoff. I think that's my main point of contention.

Not much of a choice for leadoff hitters in FA. I'm interested in Villar from the Orioles.

He is a bad version of Baez. Strikes out a ton, takes ridiculous changes on the bases but usually gets thrown out unlike Baez. I don't mind him batting 7th but is not what this team needs at lead off.

I have a feeling Mookie Betts is going to be the guy. Nico can do it....eventually but he is not ready.

It is incredible that so many games ended like today. This bullpen was garbage.

Mookie is not a FA. You trade Bryant for him?

If Nico can lead off, that's your answer

You can start with putting a well respected former catcher at manager.

Only if Mookie agrees to an extension.

Anyone in particular you have in mind? Couple of ex catchers floating around right now.

Is Ross going to be able to change the culture though seeing as he was a teammate of these guys? Girardi seems like a crusty old prick but that might be what these guys need.

The blame lays at the feet of Theo and Co. for the disaster that is this team. Their inability to draft any pitching and not being able to evaluate their own players has led to this shitshow. DJ LeMahieu for Ian Stewart anyone? A long list of bad free agent signings; Jackson, Heyward, Chatwood, Morrow, Descalso and trading for Quintana. I never liked Joe as a manger. He can’t manage a pitching staff but it’s not his fault the team sucks. It’s the front office. It’s almost like they are government employees. They are shit at their jobs but are able to blame others for their failures. The shittiest cities in the country have been run by the same party for decades but they keep getting elected by blaming their failures on others. When does Theo run out of others to blame?

Theo built a nice team around Hendry's draft picks. He just shit himself once they became successful. He did get Arrieta for absolutely nothing and Rizzo for little more than nothing.

He got lucky in a few trades, Hendricks among them. Otherwise, his decisions have been shit.
I’ve read things about him going into politics after baseball. I hope he does. He’s a clueless left winger. He’ll fuck up a campaign just like he did this ball club. That’s what leftists do. They fuck shit up. Twenty five years ago, Venezuela was the belle of the South American ball. After Hugo Chavez it’s now a shithole.

100% correct. This is on Theo and Jed. Theo should be fired after next Sunday just for this Kimbrel fuck show. 3 year deal, fuck that. Joe deserves better from this organization. If Ricketts had balls, he would can Theo before Joe.

As far as fuckin' Hendricks and Arrieta, and Rondon, even Strop at the time, Travis Wood, Justin Grimm, Trevor Cahill, hell even fuckin' Clayton Richard, these guys were either unproven or reclamation projects. Our pitching in 2015 and 2016 was fuckin superb and people forget that. You know who had the most to do with that? Chris Bosio. Dont forget, our #5 starter in 2016 (who most people hated) won 15 fuckin games and didnt even make the playoff roster. That was another terrible move by Theo to get rid of Bosio. Ever since Bosio was gone our pitching's slowly turned to shit.

Let us not forget about the minor league pitching coordinator leaving as well. He pretty much wrote the book and told the league how to dismantle this fools gold offense. His record vs the Cubs against Milwaukee and now Cinci is outstanding.

and for the love of god if you do nothing else.....please fire that fat ass, hungover, douchebag strength coach that parades around in a speedo. I give zero fucks that he is friends with Rizzo. Hire a god damn professional already....especially with how many guys have been hurt this year.

Now I can honestly say, nobody gives a fuck about today's game.

I fuckin forgot about it until now. Been watchin' football.

So much for the hype about the 7 games. After 3 games, we got knocked out of the race.

I'd like see Girardi get the job. He is a no nonsense type of guy which works for me. And he supposedly is good with young talent too (even though this is mostly a veteran team)...

What a shit inning by Almora.

Was flipping back and forth between this game and the Sox game pretty much all afternoon. Enjoyed watching Darvish actually. He had terrific stuff today.
