I predict they will land back in the playoffs. First-round out, but better than the last two seasons.

Pretty excited for the season. Don't expect Dach to make the opening roster, but Boqvist has a chance.

THIS.
They've upgraded goalie....considerably. That alone should help them make it to the playoffs.
The playoff game....yeah, I don't see it happening with this team.

I got lost on youtube for a bit yesterday. Watched Kane's goal highlights and then playoff goals from 2010 and 2015. So fun.

I may be master of the obvious but it all depends on Crawford, his back up and whether they get in the playoffs. I don't really care too much about seed. More about health momentum ending the season.

I predict (say it like you mean it) Robin Lehner supplants Crawford as the starter by the time of the circus trip...then signs an extension.

2nd round playoff exit.

Mike....c'mon, man. Crawford will not be the starter this season.

How solid is the D-corp and how well do the forwards backcheck? Those are the keys to going places.

Goaltending will be fine.

Should be able to see if forwards are buying in early. Maddening watching the forwards last year try to pass through D rather than dump puck and win corner battles. Any sign of a forecheck and the D men and wings coughed up the puck. Will see if they are stronger on the puck and if wingers backcheck to pick up opposing forwards rather than circle around like they are in the Ice Capades.

The blue line is garbage and outside of Toews and Kampf the backcheck doesn't look much better.

Stan doesn't catch enough hell for the Hjalmarsson-Murphy trade. Murphy was damaged goods and he vastly underestimated our dear Swedish cyborg.

This is true. I think the logic was that he was physiclly going to slow down and it was a good time to sell high.
Well....we got nowhere near the return and Hammer is still very good.
Bad Trade for Stan. One of many.

20 national hockey writers: 1 pick for 3rd in division. 5 for wild card. No love nationally for the Blackhawks.

Have you watched them the last 2 season? They don't deserve any national love.

Add me to the group predicting they get a wildcard this year. I do think they'll be better, but still a first round exodus.

The Hawks play in a tough division and they have to prove they still belong this year. The D was revamped so this is the year they make the playoffs or send lispy packing

It’s the NHL, even if they make the playoffs by the skin of their teeth I wouldn’t write them off in the first round.

So it literally took only 1 day into the season for the first notable Front Office fuck-up.

We literally will have only 5 defensemen dressed on Friday if de Haan can't play...

Edit: I guess Dennis Gilbert is still physically in Prague so I guess they activate him Friday if needed.

Good thing we traded a DMan for Nylander...

I think they will hang around the last playoff spot but fall 3-4 points short.

The D sucked but Crow has to make that save. Why are we starting him when Lehner is the clear #1 right now? Crow is never going to be his old self.

Nylander scores. Perhaps the new scenery will serve Nylander as much as it served Strome last year.

Politics. Optics.
Lehner did not sign here to be the backup, but I'm sure there was a discussion of "Look....we have Fan-loving Stanley-Cup Championship" that's done, but still under contract. He'llplay himself out of the job...should only take a few weeks."
