Well done by both of you.

Mac's inflated ego shows he really doesn't care what his loyal listeners like or dislike. He seems to have "dumbed down" his show and doesn't mind turning off his longtime listeners. Fine with me, too many other entertaining alternatives to listen to rather than listen to his crap.

Mac, I respect you a lot and I won't quarrel with your knowledge of your business, but you're better than this. Intentionally turning down the intelligence of your show this week to appeal to the lowest common denominator of meatball behavior increases your ratings? That's a sad commentary and something of an insult to your intelligent fans who do not relish listening to a week's worth of meatball hate mongering for the other team. I'm happy for you that you are king, but very sorry to see you have to resort to this kind of strategy. Your show is king anyway and you would mop the floor of the oppostion without the meatball act. Somebody wake me when this nonsense is over and sanity returns to the saloon.

I will make sure today's show provides "balance." I'm even going to throw a few sincere compliments at Cubs fans. And there will be thoughtful, intelligent baseball talk... but I'm not going to ignore a fairly substantial percentage of this town's fandom who revel in the "my team's better than your team" banter. It's a two-team town. That's what happens in a two-team town. I didn't invent it, but I'll reflect the direction lots of people want to take it by letting each other have it. And there never has been a more meaningful series between these two with both in first place and expectations being as high as they are. PLEASE don't suggest the team that unites us all between August and (sometimes) January -- the Beloved Bears -- don't elicit an incredibly high amount of meatballs. It just isn't directed at your next-door neighbor like Cubs vs. Sox, Wrigley vs. Cell, "hottest fans," etc., etc.

I certainly hope there is more balance.

The show was 90% meatball callers yesterday.
It was "Zorich at linebacker, I'll hang up and listen" radio.

I enjoy the meatball talk .... let it continue until July 1st.

It's like Packers/Bears talk, but cranked up a bit more since everybody lives in the six county Chicagoland area, and I guess the few counties south and east of the greater metropolitan Gary, Indiana region.

MEATBALL MEATBALL - LOVE IT!

CUBS FANS CUBS FANS - EAT SHIT!

Actually like I was telling Zach on Monday, I was surprised at the low level of meatballness directed towards me during the NFL season. I figured there would be a ton of stupid ass comments, but for the most part Bears fans were pretty objective. I mean, there were a couple meatballs arguing the Bears were a better team cuz of the 2-0 beating of the Packers, but for the most part it wasnt that bad.

Like SideshowBob311 said "Sadly enough, I think we're the "intelligent" portion of the sports radio fanbase".

Doesnt seem to be a whole lot of meatballs on this board.

I imagine Slick and Steve having been separated at birth, each adopted by a different meatball families on the opposite sides of town. They finally reconnect on this Message Board.

Would make a great movie with Will Farrell and John C. Reilly, directed by Adam McKay.

Everything is bad lately. Bad radio, bad boards, bad movies, bad, bad, bad. All the Cubs/Sox argument ever proves is that both have stupid fans.

I dont get the joke. But yeah Eagles fans are very classy, I mean what with cheering Irvin's career-ending injury and all.

Im going to play golf tomorrow during the day with a buddy of mine instead of drinking at the bar and getting rowdy watching the game. That way I can enjoy the weather, and be frustrated with something I can control.

Let's see...I'm an Eagles fan and I'm on "The Board". :P

I didn't cheer Irvin's injury, but if it had to happen to someone I was glad it was him.

I just hope neither team is knocked out of first place by the other for these six games; as it would be horrid to listen to either side crow about "Dis proves dat dey are better dan does idiots dat play up/down the road, you knows wat I'm sayin'?"

Frontman, I think to add your comments, and if people remember Harry famous comments on how he rooted for the Sox against the Cubs in 2000, and one reason is that so the at the end of the year if the Sox lost by one game in the division, he didn't want it to be by the Cubs. I will say if that happened, the team's fans that helped knocked out the other team, would treat it like they just won the world series. Of course if that team's wasn't going to the playoffs either, it may not matter, beacuse by September and October, it's football season.

We threw a party here last weekend, had some out of town visitors, Monday I got sick, Tuesday my kids got sick, and I think the one is teething. She has been staying up late and not sleeping well. I've been going to bed early. I thought it was pretty shitty but after reading some of the posts here maybe I've been lucky. It doesn't sound like I missed much on the radio and I haven't read all the Elmhurst Steve nonsense.

No. They said they were gonna talk football, rock n roll, and other stuff while the game was going on. Not many are gonna be totally focused on MJH while the game is going on anyway.

If you care about the baseball game, then you're probably watching or listening to that anyway. Those of us who could care less about Cubs-Sox are enjoying the football talk. The calendar is irrelevant when it comes to discussing the greatest game ever invented. Once the game is over, I expect them to talk about it. Works for me.
