I had a guy with Asperger's work for me. It turned out to be a nightmare. His bizarre perception of reality, and self centeredness made him scary to be around. There have been mass shooters with Asperger's.

Why do you call it jealousy to demand something more from a person who is being given valuable time to present before bodies with limited dockets?

I think its great from her perspective that she had the opportunity. From our perspective she neither highlighted an issue that is not being given sufficient attention, changed a person's previously held opinion nor forwarded the debate in any meaningful manner. This is a big boy debate. Time on that stage is precious. She's been interested in the matter long enough to have developed a better speech than "I feel".

I never say teenagers are lazy today. They are expected to have far more substantive work on their plate than even the elite from a generation ago.

Are you sure? Anecdotally, you'll find frequent criticism of teenagers being criticized for not getting their licenses at 16 or not driving at all. Living in dense walkable/transit rich areas (cities) rather than sprawling suburbs or ex-urban areas like your bumblefuck friend. The avoidance of single use plastics (straws) and other small measures (plastic bag bans, vegetable mesh bags, etc.) are met with ridicule.

Is anyone perfect? No. But I do not understand the intense hatred and toxicity for people at least attempting to reduce their environmental footprint.

My bumblefuck friend lives on a small farm in west Texas and his carbon footprint is about 1/10th of yours and these Gen Z goofballs, and yet he's called a bumblefuck because he's not virtue signalling meaningless shit on social media. Maybe that's where the hatred/resentment comes from?

I also find it amusing that you think living in cities reduces pollution. Exactly the opposite of that is true. But yeah, it's easy to pat yourself on the back for not using a plastic straw (completely meaningless gesture) while living in an air conditioned apartment in a dense city with 19 things constantly plugged in and running.

If even half the people who claimed to give a fuck about climate change actually changed their behavior and started living like my friend, they would make a real difference. But that's hard for city folk. Much easier to make fun of everyone else and live in the comfort of a big city dumping millions of gallons of pollution in the air daily.

My friend seems to be getting by just fine. I did get a chuckle out of reasonable reductions though. It's ok to admit you just don't want to make the sacrifices necessary to actually affect change. I don't either. But I'm not lecturing people hypocritically about it either.
