That's also a solution to this.

I think the reporter is definitely a douchebag but it's wild to me how many people have posted blatantly racist shit. I've been on social media since 2005. I've said a lot of dumb shit. You'll never find anything racist though. I don't even share those dumb Mexican Word of the Day memes!

Not necessarily excusing anything racist but you have to really be scum to dig through the thoughts of a 16 year old in order to hurt him when he's doing something positive. We've all said or done things as a kid that we regret even if it weren't racist.

It really is bullshit when something said years ago comes back and labels someone a racist, homophobe, etc. I don't even know what the joke was but know that it was something that was said in a Comedy Club that the kid I guess watched. Comedy is supposed to be edgy, at least it was. Maybe it isn't funny to some people who are sensitive to what is being joked at but to punish someone for bringing up or laughing at what was said at a Comedy Club is ridiculous. That newspaper, the editor, the "reporter" and Busch owe that kid an apology.

Agree 100%. The tattle tale culture that is being pushed is quite pathetic...I do love the fact that people went digging for shit on this idiot "reporter" and he's in panic/lockdown mode. These assholes can dish it, but they can't take it.

Probably a good idea to delete all your tweets over a year old especially when you are young and dumb.

Taking out of context Tweets made while the person was a minor to damage his present day reputation 8 years later is at the very least unethical.

As I said it is a good idea to delete your tweets from being a teenager.

My understanding is the scumbag "reporter" used to work for Buzzfeed. Ethics aren't really a thing there.

He was repeating a comedy act from the time the Busch Lite sponsored. I hope you really aren’t this ridiculous: It’s on you to delete it! You deserve to be financially harmed for things you said as a minor.

As an adult he could have deleted it.

Out of context isn't true either. He heard it on a show and typed it.

if you are a person of celebrity or importance, that you still have troubling social media posts available is on you quite frankly. its still douchey for these outlets to drum it up, but they don't seem real intent on stopping so you have to know you live in a world where this is the new reality.

That said, this kid is a temporary minor celebrity. I don't really place any blame on him in this instance.

But i agree with brick. at this point in society, its probably prudent for a regular purge of social media posts regardless of who you are.

As an adult, the reporter could have ignored the old tweets given the circumstances of the positive things happening for a charity.

Also as an adult, the reporter could have contacted the guy privately and suggested he clean up his old Twitter timeline.

As an adult, you should be able to recognize these things BRick, along with realizing that the reporter was 100% in the wrong here.

If we assume those tweets were offensive then why should the reporter do either of those things?

I think the reporter could have chosen to ignore the story, and he did certainly mess up things for himself, but I don't think a reporter has a duty to hide things he finds newsworthy because it may have negative outcomes.

I think we need to stop calling this dipshit a reporter. He's a gossip blogger. That's his background.

1.) Because his Twitter history was even worse.
2.) He had to know including the irrelevant tweet history in the story would jeopardize the good the man was doing.

Because the "reporter" was an adult and the guy who made the Twitter posts at the time, wasn't, and could have even forgotten he posted such nonsense way back when.

I think it is actually a good discussion to have on whether "said stupid thing on twitter" is worthy of such outrage but we live in strange times where it is.

This is why I suggested that it is a good idea to delete your tweets that are over a year old.

Luckily, bigfan did most of us that favor on here but the new wisemen seem unwilling to randomly delete threads.

I think what is posted here is a little different than old Twitter posts. Outside of Douchebag and IMU, we're all adults here.

A minor repeated something on a comedy show. I am guessing he believed it mean it was acceptable at the time. It was reported about everywhere as "racist tweets".

Like quoting rape lyrics, copying the behavior of celebrities is not "being racist". Also your suggestion of deleting everything you said that's a year old is absolutely ridiculous. It's one of the most absurd suggestions ever made here, and that's saying something.

I'm sure he doesn't think it was ridiculous.

It is Twitter. No one needs to know what you thought on Twitter as a 16 year old. Delete them all. Your life will be fine.

Quoting rape lyrics isn't cool.

You shouldn't sing about that.
