First of all, Yolmer isn't that bad. He's actually had a fairly decent season for what he is.

As far as the rest of your post, because those are the guys on the roster. Outside of Colome and Bummer, the bullpen sucks and pretty much has all year. They've had MANY relievers on the Charlotte Shuttle throughout the year because they are all so terrible. I highly doubt Ricky went into Hahn's office on August 30th and begged for Covey and Palka to be brought up the next day. I said in another thread that Palka should be playing RF every day. He's up on the roster for some stupid reason, so let him play as a fuck you to Hahn/Kenny/whoever made the decision to bring up a guy who has 4 hits in nearly 70 at bats on the season.

...and the Indians are good. Clevenger is good. Even with the ass kicking last night, the Sox have a winning record vs the Tribe this season.

I know Clevenger is good. I hate watching him pitch but he is very good. But I hate the way the call-ups were handled. Starting the guys that they started yesterday is total crap. Palka is a bust. So are Santiago and Fulmer and the guy scheduled to pitch tonight. Sanchez is an okay guy as a back-up but Mendick should be played and so should Collins. They should be playing the young guys and see whether they have potential as players.

There's no reason to play him the last 6 games.

Play Mendick at second, have Collins catch, etc.

Yep. We know what Yolmer and McCann can and cannot do. We do not have the information on Mendick and Collins. I really hate the result of the call-ups. They should have brought up Robert and Mercedes and put them into the line-up. I give a shit about the so-called "clock". Both of these guys along with Collins and Mendick DESERVED a call-up for their great play in the minor leagues.

Yolmer sucks ass and needs to be released. You can't have deadweight in lineups today. Its not 1983, unfortunately.

No power and doesn't get on base. He starts to become an expensive utility man this year unless they can negotiate something reasonable with him. He will be the starter on Opening Day again next year. He won't be on closing day.

Not if Mendick has anything to say about it. This kid can hit and has power. He can hit home runs and drive in runs. He also can steal a base. He can play 4-5 positions and is solid defensively. I love kids like this who were low draft picks yet has done well at every level. I also am not saying that Sanchez is bad. He is very good defensively but he is not a good hitter and has no power. I know that Rickey loves the guy because he looks to be a good guy in the locker room especially with the Hispanic players.

Good call on that. Do I want Yolmer starting 140 games a year? No. Do I want him on my team? Without a doubt. Plus what Frank said.

I also think his offense would be more appreciated as a pinch hitter. Big moments don't seem to worry him.

And Quintana has a four-and-a-half era, and you want the Sox to trade for him.

Name the left handed starting pitchers in the NL who have won more games that Q during his time with the Cubbies. And in this home run juiced ball year, that ERA is not a bad one.

Looks like Anderson is going to win the batting title going away and Abreu looks like he is going to be the RBI champ, maybe even in all of baseball. Jimenez will be a big vote getter for Rookie of the Year and Moncada may get the Most Improved player of the year. Not bad. Not bad at all.

Giolito wins most improved and its not even close to #2. to go from the worst qualified starter to legit Cy Young candidate is insane.

I think that they have awards that sound pretty much the same to me. One is Most Improved Player of the Year and another is Comeback Player of the Year. I don't really know the difference. Perhaps that Comeback POY is intended for a veteran player and the MIPOY is geared to younger guys.

I just think that position players performance should be judged separately from pitchers. It similar to the MVP discussions. Trying to decide who is more valuable to a team, a pitcher or a position player is impossible to me. I'll say this the years that Giolito, Moncada and Anderson compared to their previous seasons were amazing and should be recognized as such.

Palka tonight has 33% of Sox right fielder's total this year?

So, the guy you have mocked consistently is the 3rd in wins among left handed starting pitchers in the National League for his time with the Cubbies. Gee. I'd say that your assessment of Q is pretty stupid.

Honestly, I don't know if he is third. I took a quick glance and those were the two that jumped out at me. Lester I knew had more wins than Q since mid-2017.

Quintana is coming off a 1-1 September, in which he managed to throw just 18 innings over 5 starts, with an 11.09 ERA and a 2.25 WHIP. THAT is the guy you want throwing in crunch time for the Sox?

Gee, I'd say your assessment of everything is pretty fucking stupid.

So the Sox are supposed to play a straight double header today. Weather is looking like they might get one game in at best. Would MLB seriously make these two going nowhere teams play a double header on the second to last day of the season, or the final day of the season? Is it even possible to call these two seasons complete at 160 games?

You are just wrong. Q was 3rd in wins by a National league left handed starting pitcher in 2018 and 2019. He had a split season with the Sox and the Cubs in 2017 but he did have double digit wins in total that year also. He's pretty good. That is my point. He's not a dominant guy the way that Kershaw or Sale were but he is a bonified middle of the rotation starting pitcher.

They won't call the games. It is up to the umpires to make that decision. You have a batting title and an RBI title in play for one thing but you also have to consider that fans have played money to see their teams play. A lot of players have things like performance/bonus clauses in their contracts also.

Speaking about double headers at the end of a season. I read a story about Ted Williams refusing to sit down at the end of a season because he would risk losing his .400+ BA if he played. I think he got like 6 or 7 hits in the double header
