This will be an interesting story line. There is no doubt Candelario will be traded sooner rather than later, but Eloy Jimenez is forcing the issue, with absolutely no room to play in 2017 nor anytime in the near future. I do not think the Cubs had any belief he would develop this quickly, especially considering the slower pace of Soler.
If the Cubs deem it necessary, he could be the Gleyber Torres in a major deadline deal, though I think it would be necessary to get back more than just a second half closer rental.
Or we can pick the #tradeschwarber hashtag back up.
With the recent, heinous accusations thrown at me recently, let's all remember that I was one of the biggest supporters of Eloy and along with several other Cubs fans on this board, very sure he would experience a ton of big league success. Back when White Sox fans were telling us that we're idiots to pay attention to prospects and that they're all suspects.
As a Cubs fan, I do not want to see the White Sox score a player that will likely be a star in the future. While I'll always root for him because of where he came from, similar to Gleyber Torres and Dan Vogelbach, I'm certainly not hoping the White Sox get his best years. Even next year, I'll be grabbing every chance I get to see the Cubs and Q come out on top.
By the way, great prediction by good dolphin.
