Im confident Alzolay can give us 175 innings and a 4.5 era or better. I'd trade KB too.

Quintana didn't do that. Hamels didn't do that (good ERA, well short on innings). Lester didn't do that (4.46 ERA, 171.2 inn).

So basically, you are asking for Alzolay, who has 12 MLB innings pitched, to come in and put up better numbers than 2/3 of the Cub rotation this season.

Yeah, start the rebuild.

32 starts at 5.5 innings gets ya there.. Not a high bar. Lester is done. Id sign Cole if we can get him and re up Nick C. Trade KB and reload the farm.

Lester isn't done. He's just a high-priced 4 or 5 who you're stuck with.
Alzolay may be a good SP, but I wouln't go into a season banking on that.

If they let Q walk, it's safe to assume they have no delusions of being a WS contender next year.

Q wouldn't even have been on the playoff roster if we got in.

There is not a Cubs pitcher in 2019 who has 32 starts. If Lester goes Sunday (currently no SP is listed for Sun), he gets there.

So again, you are asking a pitcher with 12 MLB innings under his belt to basically come in and be a legit #2 for this team. Not that it can't happen, but that just underlines the shit ton of problems that Theo has created and thus has to fix.

I’m sure a guy that pitched 110 innings over the last 2 seasons can stretch out and pitch 175 next year, even though his career high in the minors has been 120.

Quintana carried this team in August. He was dealing, when the team had a shot. When all of your teammates give up besides Nicholas Castellanos, I imagine it hard to maintain that bull dog attitude. Look at that lineup from yesterday? You'd go through the motions on the mound too with those guys behind you.

Quintana will be better next year.

Starting pitchers don't "go through the motions".

Did you see thr shitfuck lineup the Pirates put out there last night? They are a terrible team, yet they still managed to put up some runs against your starting pitcher.

Did you not see where I posted that Quintana had an era over 11 for the month of September? The Cubs were in it most of the month am I wrong? So Quintana pitches like absolute crap even when his team had a shot, and when his team needed him most.

I would agree that Quintana might be better next year, but he has nowhere to go but up. Second-worst era of all qualified starting pitchers in the National League.

Your post this baseball season have been absolutely Dreadful. Don't get me wrong, they have been entertaining, entertaining as fuck  , but you have been wrong so many times it's unbelievable. The fact that you actually think you know baseball is probably the biggest meme on this board. And then you have the audacity to say that you won't drop to my level and treat me as an equal. To be honest, I'm glad I'm not an equal with you. I'm better. A whole lot better than you. You are a joke.

List of teams that'll be bidding for Cole:

Astros, Yankees, Red Sox, Phillies, Angels, White Sox, Cardinals, Cubs, Giants, Braves...even the Royals incoming owner might decide to make a splash by going after GC.

I'd guess the Angels end up with Cole. He's originally from that area. The Angels owners are willing to spend $$ in free agency. They should have a healthy Trout / Ohtani next season. And the Angels will prolly bring in max-payroll Dombrowski to try to get them back to the World Series for the first time in 2 decades.

The White Sox are not going to be serious contenders for Gerrit Cole.

Yeah, but that list has so many strong, big spending contenders that even with SERIOUS interest from the White Sox, they don't seem to be in the same ballpark as the other organizations.

The Cubs need to hire whoever evaluates pitchers for Houston.

Yeah, Mark Appel was a wonderful pick.

But seriously, this is a very solid deep dive into Houston's rebuild, including a complete tear down of the personnel and strategies used by the scouting department.

Cole's married to Giants shortstop Brandon Crawford's sister, a former UCLA softball player (that's where they met). So Angels and Giants probably have inside tracks on signing him in free agency. Yankees were the Cole family's team, despite growing up in socal. But if GC wanted to be a Yankee, he could've taken the record deal they offered him to sign when the Yankees drafted him out of high school.

I think Lester is pretty much done. He was actually quite good the first couple months of the season, but the rest of the year.....a lot of bad. Yes, he can be a #5 but I suspect before June of next season, he will have a mysterious injury and wind up on the IL for a lot of the season. He just wears down the past couple years after 2-3 months and his performance level falls off considerably.

Eloy Jiménez, meanwhile, takes home American League Rookie of the Month honors after crushing nine home runs and collecting 25 RBIs while hitting .340/.383/.710 over 24 games in September. After getting off to a slow start, the 22-year-old ended up eclipsing the 30-homer mark.

.828 OPS as a rookie will do just fine.

He would have been the third best hitter on the Cubs in September. Pretty good. I love when Cubs prospects work out.

Given the atrocious numbers put up, Eloy could have been the third best starting pitcher on the Cubs as well.

Let us know when one does. It's been a couple of years since that's happened.

He would have eclipsed 40 bombs if he wasn't a locomotive in left field and got himself hurt early in the year.

You may not have heard, but he is currently out with an injury. The current projection is that he could miss the first month.

Twitter is a pretty good source for staying on top of MLB injury reports and transactions. https://www.twitter.com.

Except my trail stop loss executed on $NOVN during a very brief mid morning dip at $0.92 and it ended up at about $1.25 on the day.

Average share cost was $0.55... I see some silly Robinhood types target this one to $3.or $4 but that doesn't seem realistic. I certainly hope not anyway.

Checking out $NTEC next. Another Israeli pharma play.

It was disturbing to hear Ross yesterday discuss the Quintana's progress with the injury. It sounded like he was hopeful that Q would only miss the first 30 games but he certainly did not seem definite. He said there was nerve damage that was going to require him to re learn some grips. That is a lot worse of details than had previously been revealed by the team. He also said Q was ahead of schedule , which seems to indicate the team thought this might have been a season ender.

Anyway, the nerve damage part worried me because that sounds like an outside chance of ending his career. I would hate to see that because I really like the guy
