My understanding was she was drunk, walked into the wrong condo and panicked n shot.

I'd say 22 years is appropriate.

why not just pull him over, plant drugs in his car https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UANRvFNc0hw
and get him sent to prison for 10 years for possession w. intent.

killing him seems extreme for a neighbor dispute. Not even the Golden State Killer whacked his loud dog owning neighbors.

I would've voted to convict for murder and here is why.

If this kunt wanted to take responsibility for her actions, she could've accepted the manslaughter plea. She wasn't interested in taking responsibility though. This worthless kunt thought she could get off entirely on it and took this to trial. She had no intention of taking responsibility so I go full on for murder to punish her for that. Any sob story she tells about being tired is just bogus.

It was a risk/reward gamble she took and I'd ensure she pays the full price of that one.

Toxicology report entered into evidence at trial showed she was not intoxicated during the shooting. Standard procedure to do a blood draw and run a tox screen after a cop shoots someone. Zero drugs, zero alcohol in her system. Maybe you're confusing her "let's get drunk and screw" messages to her fellow officer in the aftermath of the shooting.

As she was just getting off of her job as a cop when she walked in and shot him, would've been extra-weird if she had been super-drunk or high AF at the time she shot him.

So because she's female and a cop throw the book at her!

To me the strangest group are the people who say mass incarceration is a problem, but let's lock up this girl forever and also make sure Felicity Huffman get's a nice long sentence.

Look I know that you're just an genius, but if you think locking someone up for murder is equal to locking people up for victimless crimes, then you're even dumber than I thought.

AFAIK, she hasn't been sentenced to anything at this point. Sentencing phase just started.

Uh oh is Ogie going to go on another rage postings spree about killing cops again?

It's more nuanced than guns are good, and cops are bad so I would expect you to lash out at it, but I find it strange to endlessly complain about law enforcement but then cheer for long sentences.

I'm not cheering for a long sentence. I'm cheering for her to get shivved in prison. That would be justice served.

I’m pretty sure the sentence for a black man shooting a white woman in Texas is same day hanging. Assuming the suspect isn’t just shot by police.

Uh, this isn't how evidence, jury instructions, or any of about a dozen other things work in a trial. The jury has no knowledge that there was any manslaughter plea deal if there was one, and the prosecution can't enter into evidence her denial of the plea deal.

isn't that how our (broken) criminal justice system works tho? that is, you get offered a plea deal and if you turn it down and go to trial and lose then they throw the book at you. Guyger being a cop would know that as well as anyone. How many perps facing questionable cases end up copping to plea deals b/c going to trial and losing would mean some insanely long sentence for something they might not have been all that involved in.

We both know you can't afford that. But if you passed out drunk, as you two were making out, then you would be a hero and get a book deal. Sounds like a leg up on your current life. So save up and try.
