Do you trust the organization to develop the pitching?

Agreed. If you consistently draft All Stars every single year without fail, your team is likely to be pretty good.

Now, if you want to return to reality and have a discussion, we're here for you.

My point was shitty scouting, all those guys went later when the Cubs picked..you didnt need to tank to get elite prospects.

Is it really shitty scouting? Could it be shitty coaching and shitty development?

2016 pitching is not the same as 2018, 2019, 2020 pitching. Another year of standing pat with this pitching staff is a bad idea.

Blow this shit up.

Baez, Contreras, and maybe Rizzo are the only ones safe in my world.

We need good to great young pitchers as #1 priority.

Just like most of the MLB.

Didn't the Cubs basically do this last year?

They tried to sell it to fans and media that they did.

They did not.

The Cubs will trade anyone who values their players more than they do.

Since such a person doesn't exist, they will remain the same.

"They did not" as in they did not have the exact same 25 man roster.

They absolutely did stand pat in terms of the regulars in the lineup and starting rotation. Monygomery and Hamels are the only names different from 2018 to 2019.

2018 Chicago Cubs
Most Games by Position
C Willson Contreras (133)
1B Anthony Rizzo (153)
2B Javier Baez (104)
3B Kris Bryant (86)
SS Addison Russell (129)
LF Kyle Schwarber (120)
CF Albert Almora Jr. (137)
RF Jason Heyward (118)

SP Tyler Chatwood
SP Kyle Hendricks
SP Jon Lester
SP Mike Montgomery
SP Jose Quintana

2019 Chicago Cubs
Most Games by Position
C Willson Contreras (98)
1B Anthony Rizzo (145)
2B Addison Russell (62)
3B Kris Bryant (114)
SS Javier Baez (128)
LF Kyle Schwarber (139)
CF Albert Almora Jr. (124)

Don't actually follow them day to day but I do know all the "don't suck" and "respect 90" were as empty wordage as empty wordage could be.

Bernstein says the Girardi interview went really well and that they like him. “BUT, with that said, they don’t know if his personality/methods will fit internally.”

He also said money won’t be an issue hiring Girardi. He wants to manage again and it would likely be a team friendly deal. “BUT, who knows with all the managerial openings. Things could get weird fast.”

So I learned absolutely nothing from this.

I think it means:

The team wants Ross, and Girardi’s hard ass approach prolly won’t work with the core.

It means Bernstein is full of shit, he has no idea how the interview went or what may come of it. He's trying to throw as much shit against the wall as possible to cover any scenario.. That's what Ron is talking about..and I agree.

Truth be told, Hanks as a drunk and womanizer is too. Definitely not his typical character.

Very long but interesting read. Gordon Wittenmyer Cubs article. He touches on quite a lot of the Theo era good and bad. Theo goes full Les, "We’re not blowing anything up, per se.” Wittenmyer praises bum Heyward. "The oft-criticized $184 million deal for outfielder Jason Heyward (who has been an important contributor on several levels, if overpaid)."
Refreshing though to have a rare view that even with Theo's successes Wittenmyer is hinting Theo might not be the best choice to lead the Cubs post Maddon with his many misfires.
