A blues-rock guitarist who draws his inspiration from Elmore James, Hound Dog Taylor, and Chuck Berry, George Thorogood never earned much respect from blues purists, but he became a popular favorite in the early '80s through repeated exposure on FM radio and the arena rock circuit. Thorogood's music was always loud, simple, and direct -- his riffs and licks were taken straight out of '50s Chicago blues and rock & roll -- but his formulaic approach helped him gain a rather large audience in the '80s, when his albums regularly went gold.

i'll second that, i saw them there 10 years ago, and it was a great old-fashioned rock and roll show.

That's a very timely bump for a spam-bot, hoeeilot.

I'll be at the show but I don't think Buddy Guy is supposed to be there. I hope I'm wrong though. That would be awesome. But Thorogood's website doesn't list him as performing at the House of Blues show.

II like him, but if I NEVER hear Bad To The Bone again, it will be too soon.

The show was excellent as always. George is a live performer, that's what he does best. I'm with you, A7X, on Bad to the Bone, I don't need to ever listen to the studio version of that song again. But it's still pretty awesome to watch him play it live.

Eddie Shaw opened the show and I thought his version of "Too Many Dirty Dishes" was one of the highlights of the night. Also, Eddie's kid is a pretty damn good blues guitarist in his own right.

Great night. Only thing about Thorogood's shows these days is that the age of the crowd is getting startlingly old. The security guy was going around asking if someone had dropped their glasses. I took a look at them and they were reading glasses (and then I thanked him for finding them for me). Also, I was taken aback at the 65 year-old CPA-looking guy behind me that asked if I had any weed.

Doc, is it safe to say there were plenty of grey haired ponyyales in the audience?

Tree-hugging hippies!

Not as many as you'd think but more than necessary.
