This little thread isn't about China and their practices and politics. We could give a shit about either.
Its about once again bashing the politics of the NBA.

I've been bashing China the whole thread mate. Pretty sure other's have too.

Nah its been much more about the "wokeness" of the NBA.

It's been about the NBA kowtowing to a tyrannical government because of money.

It just illustrates plainly that businesses are whores.

Doesn't make them any different than anyone else in that regard.

Of course not.

But much like the WWE and its Saudi Arabia relationship, it's worthy of criticism.

Morey should have been allowed to speak freely. I don't disagree with that. Throughout the career of Yao Ming they in essence prostituted themselves for China. No shock that they'd do it in this instance.

China is a huge market for NBA basketball. Its also a huge market for former players. They aren't going to tamper with that relationship. I don't believe that Stern would have issued a similar statement had he been commissioner. They all however take their cues from the owners anyway so maybe he would've.

Okay. It's real heroic to move your All-Star game over a bathroom while stuffing your pockets with yuan and hanging Daryl Morey out to dry. Great social progress!

As a guy who doesn't give a crap about any social progress, how can YOU be critical of someone or an organization that isn't spraying to all fields? It literally impossible to be passionate about every cause or speak out against every single injustice in the world. The truth is, people like you still wouldn't give a shit. You'll just find another target.

I don't know why it's hard to call the NBA and guys like Harden out for this.

Nope, James Harden is getting on his knees so that he can suck those very tiny microscopic Chinese cocks.

Someone will have his back. I think his owner said something in support of him over the weekend. I doubt if any other owner will however.

There will be a player who will definitely speak out on behalf of Democracy in China. It will be a player that never expects to play in China most likely.

I don't think Hong Kong need be a pet cause for anyone associated with the NBA, but like it or not Morey brought it to their door and the official NBA statement is conemptible and the lack of comment by otherwise outspoken advocates for human rights speaks volumes. I'm hoping Kerr will do the right thing. I think he might.

The owners are the ones that found it contemptible. Not the players. Criticism should be levied against them. Free Marketeers on here will never do that now will they?

They may be a tad more progressive than other leagues but that hardly makes them the progressive league.

Most of these guys don't give a shit. The country and the world is changing a little. Guys like MJ and others were afraid to speak out because they saw how activism destroyed or harmed the careers of athletes who came before and even saw how a guy like Chris Jackson (Can't spell his new name) was blackballed out of the league.

LeBron James took a chance. Regardless of how eloquent it was, he put his career on the line and spoke out. Others followed suit and the players and fans got a little power from that. That's why Sterling was finally banned. If not because of the social progress LeBron pushed for it would have been business as usual.

His owner left him hang out to dry for several days and then made him issue a groveling apology. Why to people cave in to this shit? Does anyone have a pair of balls? Am I the only one that's ever quit a job?

That's not how I see it. It's an issue of "convenience", like all limousine liberal issues. When it cuts close to the bone, all bets are off.

They tolerated Sterling's bigotry for decades and only took action when it became apparent that his bigotry was going to adversely effect the bottom line.

How does Democracy in China effect the average NBA player? Answer is that it doesn't. Its not cutting close to anything. Its the owners that have more to lose and that is why the statement issued.

Other than praying for the return of 1956 for your last few decades of life, what do you really care about? It appears that you spend every moment of your day trying to sell that way of life to everyone who will listen and also trying to make white people fearful of everyone who doesn't think like you. It is ironic that he works for Yao Ming's former team. They had to bend over backwards in order to get Yao over here. Made a ton of Concessions with the Chinese Govt in order for him to play here.
