Apparently the Chinese were dissatisfied with Silver's response and have decided to stop showing NBA preseason games.
I guess that he wasn't viewed to be as much as a kiss ass by China as he was by America.

CCTV's sports channel said Tuesday that it had "decided to immediately halt" broadcasts of the basketball league's preseason matches in China after it expressed its "strong dissatisfaction" over NBA Commissioner Adam Silver's response to Daryl Morey's tweet. The broadcaster is also reviewing its wider relationship with the NBA.

I think Morey was correct in his assessment. The only thing i'd question is his right to say it as an employee of the NBA. They conduct a tremendous amount of business with China. More than any other country. The Chinese are business partners with the NBA. He had to or should have known that it could adversely effect their business relationship.

As far as the NBA goes they should have simply placed one of those cheap disclaimers out which distanced them from the comments. Don't try and neuter the guy. Even if they don't happen to support him don't hang him out to dry.

It's pretty embarrassing for the league to shrivel in fear in the face of actual systemic injustice, but it goes to show who really runs the show. Shoe companies are the real owners of the NBA, and you can't disrupt their supply chain by speaking the truth.

If the NBA truly had an issue with China they would not have gone out of their way to make inroads into the Chinese market over the years. Its not as if the human rights violations committed by China were exactly a secret. They have always excused the human rights violations committed by China. Just like the vast majority of Americans have.

I listened to discussion about this on Connor and Bernsie this morning. They were right in sense of what is any company or entity supposed to do regarding China? Or even more so a person? You cannot disconnect from China in any way. There is no practical way to avoid Chinese involvement or production in anything.

My first thought was I wonder how many people that voice such outrage do it from iPhones.

What exactly is your point? If you think that a boycott of China is going to change "government policies" then you are woefully mistaken. China has the 2nd largest economy on earth. They don't need the NBA. The NBA believed that they needed them. This occurred years ago. The NBA wanted to become global. This occurred years ago. China was instrumental in helping to achieve this.

If we aren't going to push on any other corporate entity (and you haven't) then we shouldn't push on the NBA either. The people currently grandstanding do not give a damn about human rights abuses or democracy in China. Never have. They simply don't like the NBA and hence they want the NBA to lead the charge for something that they aren't willing to do themselves. THey are the real hypocrites.

I stated before that I agree with Morey. Don't know why you are continuing to ask senseless questions. Provide examples of you railing against countries for being human rights violators and then maybe your statements will have validity. As it stands now they don't
