This was the scenario you did not want with Washington, a game 5 with all hands on deck in the rotation. The only worse scenario would be Scherzer starting game 5 but Strausburg backed up by Corbin with an inning of Scherzer before Doolittle is daunting.

It's almost like the Nationals know they can't win the war but are laser focused on this battle

I'd rather have Strasburg in Game 5 than Scherzer. Rather not see Corbin at all in relief if I'm a Nats fan.

I don't think there is any way Sherzer can pitch in game 5. He's thrown like 130 pitches in three days
(110 or whatever he had last night, and he pitched the 8th inning of Game 2).

In my humble opinion, this series has been the most entertaining of any of the divisional series. It's been fun to see Washington use its excellent starting pitching to counteract all that depth from the Dodgers. If Washington wins, I hope they don't burn themselves out in the process.

I don't see how he could be happy with his career. Taking money out of the equation, the #1 regret of most people in pro sports is the failure to win a championship. The A's have won one playoff series since 1993. So, they can't even take solace in making the championship game or playoff success that happened to not result in a title. Now, maybe he can convince himself that the MLB playoffs are random, and he was just unlucky 10 out of 11 times, but I don't think I could.
