It's unlikely we'll ever see something long this again. You'll miss him when he's gone.

Pat Mahomes.

Doesn't have Bill Belichick.

Brady is just a system QB.

kind of, but he's still the GOAT.

They need each other. I don't think either of them quite has the same level of success without each other. Still...wouldn't call it a 50/50 split. I'd say Brady needs BB more than BB needs Brady.

Why aren't other teams running the system? Considering the trash Brady has to work with on offense there is no doubt in my mind Brady gets the lion's share of the credit.

You said it yourself earlier in this very thread. Bill Belichick.

Because it's not replicable. It's a new system each week. We might not see Brandon Bolden ever again but BB knew that yesterday's game called for the Bolden package.

Fuck Bill Belichick! He would be coaching high school somewhere if not for LT and Brady.

 I don't think thats true. His team won 11 games with Matt Cassell starting. I don't think he would have 6 rings without Brady, but he wouldn't be a high school bum either.

Cassel did have Moss and Welker. The year before Brady went undefeated with the same team.

For all the praise that Belichick gets and for as great a coach his is he sucks drafting.

He has three Cleveland Browns draft picks starting for his defense. He made Shea McClellin into a useful player. He literally picks up junk and castoffs from the scrap heap and turns them into viable players because he uses them correctly.

Nothing you say here is false but why doesn't he draft well? Clearly he knows how to identify players who can play.

LOL. He drafted Tom Brady! You're bad at this.

Yeah. The guy who has coached in nine Super Bowls and played in every AFC Championship game since 1997 can't identify talent.

You do realize that I agree with you? I'm just questioning why a coach who can sign a guy from the stands that can play a decade doesn't have a great track record in the draft outside of quarterbacks that will be traded.

He got lucky with Brady. If he knew Brady would be the best player ever then he wouldn't have waited until the 6th. I will acknowledge that he gets his quarterback picks right most of the time.

He's the greatest at reclamation projects and undrafted players but his draft history isn't great.

Did you even look at the draft classes?

2000 - Tom Brady
2001 - Richard Seymour, Matt Light
2002 - Daniel Graham, Dein Branch
2003 - Asante Samuel, Dan Koppen
2004 - Vince Wilfork, Ben Watson
2005 - Logan Mankins, Ellis Jobbs, Matt Cassel
2006 - Stephen Gostowski
2007 - Brandon Meriweather
2008 - Jerod Mayo
2009 - Patrick Chung, Darius Butler, Sebatian Vollmer, Hulian Edelman
2010 - Devin McCourty, Rob Gronkowski, Brandon Spikes, Aaron Hernandez, Ted Larsen
2011 - Nate Solder, Shane Wereen, Stvan Ridley, Marcus Cannon
2012 - Chandler Jones, Dont'a Hightower
2013 - Jamies Collins, Logan Ryan
2014 - Jimmy Garoppolo, James White
2015 - Malcom Brown, Trey Flowers, Shaq Mason
2016 - Jacoby Brissett
2017 - This seems to be a shit year. Pats only had four picks.
2018 - Sony Michel

He drafted the best QB in league history and the best TE in league history.

MANY of those draft picks played for the Patriots for years and MANY still play in the league today.

Are you looking at it? The Patriots haven't had a great draft in a decade and the past 4 have been underwhelming.

I'm comparing their draft success to their success with reclamation projects and undrafted free agents. Considering how often they hit on the latter I'm surprised that they don't have more success in the draft.

2002 - Daniel Graham, Dein Branch
2003 - Asante Samuel, Dan Koppen
2004 - Vince Wilfork, Ben Watson
2005 - Logan Mankins, Ellis Jobbs, Matt Cassel
2006 - Stephen Gostowski
2007 - Brandon Meriweather
2008 - Jerod Mayo
2009 - Patrick Chung, Darius Butler, Sebatian Vollmer, Hulian Edelman
2010 - Devin McCourty, Rob Gronkowski, Brandon Spikes, Aaron Hernandez, Ted Larsen
2011 - Nate Solder, Shane Wereen, Stvan Ridley, Marcus Cannon
2012 - Chandler Jones, Dont'a Hightower
2013 - Jamies Collins, Logan Ryan
2014 - Jimmy Garoppolo, James White
2015 - Malcom Brown, Trey Flowers, Shaq Mason
2016 - Jacoby Brissett
2017 - This seems to be a shit year. Pats only had four picks.
2018 - Sony Michel

He drafted the best QB in league history and the best TE in league history.

MANY of those draft picks played for the Patriots for years and MANY still play in the league today.

Are you looking at it? The Patriots haven't had a great draft in a decade and the past 4 have been underwhelming.

How many Super Bowls have they won this decade? I can't remember.

So this is an admission that you were wrong. Next you'll need to put some respeck on Brady's name.

Who are you comparing them to?

I'm comparing their draft success to their success with reclamation projects and undrafted free agents. Considering how often they hit on the latter I'm surprised that they don't have more success in the draft.

Take a look at the Patriots rosters this decade. The majority of their impact starters came through the draft. Also, I'm not sure how the Patriots success with reclamaintion projects and UFAs is an indictment on Bill Belichick. It further underscores just how good he is at evaluating talent.

It's not an indictment of Belichick. He's unbelievable with everyone else's trash. He's the GOAT coach. I was simply wondering why he isn't great in the draft considering how unbelievable he is at identifying talent.

Call me a fool, but I'd be cool with the Bears having two decades of Bill Belichick even with his apparently shitty drafting abilities.

I will too. I'll trade my next 3 drafts for Brady right now.

The "Belichick isn't very good" argument went about as I expected it to go

It wasn't an argument. The high school stuff was clear trolling. Everything else wasn't. Including Brady deserving the lion's share of the credit.
