They absolutely did stand pat in terms of the regulars in the lineup and starting rotation. Monygomery and Hamels are the only names different from 2018 to 2019.

Cubs to interview Girardi, Ross and Venable next week.

Loretta interviewed Thursday.

Keep and resign the position core guys. Joe gone will be a plus.

Bernstein says the Girardi interview went really well and that they like him. “BUT, with that said, they don’t know if his personality/methods will fit internally.”

He also said money won’t be an issue hiring Girardi. He wants to manage again and it would likely be a team friendly deal. “BUT, who knows with all the managerial openings. Things could get weird fast.”


So I learned absolutely nothing from this.

I think it means:

The team wants Ross, and Girardi’s hard ass approach prolly won’t work with the core.

Very long but interesting read. Gordon Wittenmyer Cubs article. He touches on quite a lot of the Theo era good and bad. Theo goes full Les, "We’re not blowing anything up, per se.” Wittenmyer praises bum Heyward. "The oft-criticized $184 million deal for outfielder Jason Heyward (who has been an important contributor on several levels, if overpaid)."
Refreshing though to have a rare view that even with Theo's successes Wittenmyer is hinting Theo might not be the best choice to lead the Cubs post Maddon with his many misfires.

Not to be that guy but that book was 100x better than the awesome movie.
