LeBron is being criticized because he spoke out against injustices in America.
That's just not true. That was the nonsense you came at me with last week. I've never criticized LeBron for his political stances. I've never criticized Kerr or Pop for theirs either. And I don't think any of them have ever been widely disliked in this forum either. But suddenly they're feigning some kind of moral confusion about what's happening in Hong Kong. Yet somehow I suspect all three of them have complete understanding and strong opinions regarding the highly complicated situation in Syria.
Its difficult to say that this isn't true when a number of people in this thread have already used it as the primary reason for why they believe he is a phony.
Well, I don't believe "social justice" ends at the bottom of your driveway and since he is so outspoken in every other instance, it would have been entirely appropriate for him to at least lend token support to Morey. But now, he's gone and done the exact opposite of that. It seems a weird thing to defend.
You just called it nonsense for anyone to think that and i immediately debunked by alluding to a number of (including you) who think that
I do think he's a phony when it comes to this. I think Kerr and Pop are phonies too. But that's a far cry from criticizing them for their activism. How committed to human rights are you when you can't even support a guy supporting the citizens of Hong Kong when a dictator is threatening to crush their bones?
Also, if LeBron's issue with Morey's tweet was the fact that players were in China at the time, I can understand that, but he certainly could have put it better.
Anyway, these guys are all entitled to their opinions- political and otherwise- but I believe the talk that Steve Kerr should run for president has pretty much ended forever.
I have never considered Lebron to be a spokesperson for the oppressed in the first place. Its why i'm not particularly disappointed in his lack of response this time.
He will and has always done what's in his best interest and i didn't expect anything to be different in this instance.
I'm taken aback by all of the Nouveau humanitarians currently blasting him on here all of a sudden. Who knew?
