I must have missed where anyone said it was ALL about their safety.

Even if the ratio is 90/10 in favor of financial reasons compared to safety there is still some part of him that could be concerned for his and everyone else’s safety.

Keep in mind that China is banning people for liking tweets about Hong Kong. It happened to Woj and one of those DJ's that is now an artist or something who has huge concerts where he hits the play button and then puts his hands up.

I know who you're talking about, his stage name has a slash and an absolute value symbol in it.

None of this is about his safety and his continued trips to China will confirm that. Just watch him go next year on some tour for a shoe company or to promote Space Jam 2

Nuance is difficult for some.

I've said in the past that LeBron seems to especially belong to Black America in a way that Michael Jordan never did. jbi11s had a psychotic break about it.

Is that what this thread was about? I think we remember it differently.

This is completely valid while in China.

This is not valid at all when not in China.

However, just refuse to say anything then. LeBron here was clearly using talking points given to him from China.

Keep in mind that China is banning people for liking tweets about Hong Kong. It happened to Woj and one of those DJ's that is now an artist or something who has huge concerts where he hits the play button and then puts his hands up.

When he refused to say anything people were still on his case.

Daryl Morey wouldn't say anything with regards to China if he were in the same financial situation as Lebron.

Daryl Morey was the GM for the last 4 seasons of Yao Ming's career and never said a word about the actions of China's Govt.

When he had financial skin in the game (employment) he was just as silent as anyone on the subject of Chinese atrocities.

He's a lot less wealthy than LeBron, yet he still spoke out. Take this bullshit out of here.

Know you're ignorant but try and follow along anyway. Daryl Morey was the GM of the Rockets for the last 4 years of Yao's career and never said a damn thing about China.

If you have any knowledge regarding that situation (you don't) you'd know that the Chinese Govt shitted on the Rockets the entire time that Yao was a member of the franchise.

And Morey said nothing.

Neither does PJ media and damn you're stupid. Daryl Morey has nothing to lose if he speaks out against the Chinese Govt. I doubt very seriously that he gets fired over this.

Lebron James does however and that undoubtedly factored into his decision.

When Morey had something to lose during the Yao years he said and did absolutely nothing. Just like Lebron.

Hopefully you can process this or maybe "Pajamas" media can process it for you. As it invariably does.

I don't really think so. I think people had pretty much accepted "no comments" after a few hours of indignation. LeBron decided to attack Morey and repeat things clearly given to him or his people from the Chinese government.

What does that mean? LeBron has more money he could ever spend in his life or his kids lives assuming he doesn't buy the Knicks. What financial situation is LeBron in?

I don't recall China shooting protesters in Hong Kong until recently.

He has money to lose regardless of how wealthy he happens to be.

Daryl Morey doesn't and if he were so opposed to the politics of China he had a full 4 years to speak on it (when he actually had something to lose) and didn't. He kept quiet because remaining quiet meant keeping his job.

In essence he remained quiet for financial reasons. Just like Lebron has.

You said that Morey is in a different financial situation than LeBron, but you also seem to be claiming that LeBron and Morey have the same reasons for not wanting to make China mad.

Morey risked far more with his tweet than LeBron has with everything. He was lucky the league didn't force him to quit to make China happy. As Hatchetman pointed out, the Hong Kong protests are a recent development. It's like asking why LeBron didn't speak out about Trump in 2012. He's President now.

Except Morey hasn't. You seem to think that if you've never spoken out about a subject that means you shouldn't ever speak out about a subject. You did the same thing to me and others earlier in the thread about how we haven't had an issue with China because we didn't post it here.

Human Rights violations have occurred throughout the history of Communist China and Morey more than anyone was well aware of it seeing as that Yao Ming was owned by the Chinese Govt during the entirety of the time that he played for the Rockets.

If he had an issue with it he could have spoken up then. He remained silent because doing so kept him employed.

If they whack him he becomes a martyr and will have his pick of NBA jobs.

He doesn't have millions to lose. Lebron does however.

My comments regarding the ignoring of human rights violations on here stands by the way. The same people on here that are currently blasting Lebron for remaining silent are just as silent when this country is called out for supporting human rights violators.

Its extremely hypocritical on their part by the way.

All of this "presuming to know what i meant to say" garbage is simply that. Garbage. Walk it and then you have credibility. Remain silent only til its NBA bashing season and you don't.

So, if you haven't spoken about something previously this disqualifies you from speaking about it when the situation becomes worse?

Sure he does, and he doesn't have generational wealth to fall back on like LeBron.

No it doesn't and you don't get to make your valuations up as you go along Brick. Sorry to inform you of that. Let's simply match my history of speaking out against human rights violations up against yours and see what we get. How about that?

I will address the other later but lets simply see who the hypocrite happens to be on this one

So, if you haven't spoken about something previously this disqualifies you from speaking about it when the situation becomes worse?

Sure he does, and he doesn't have generational wealth to fall back on like LeBron.

That makes you a hypocrite too unless you've talked about every human rights violation in existence on here.

No it doesn't and you don't get to make your valuations up as you go along Brick. Sorry to inform you of that. Let's simply match my history of speaking out against human rights violations up against yours and see what we get. How about that?

I will address the other later but lets simply see who the hypocrite happens to be on this one

You don't get it. I don't need a human rights scorecard because it doesn't mean anything. There are topics we all ignore on here. I have significantly more posts than you on workers rights in America. That doesn't mean you don't care about workers rights in America.

The difference is that you actually comment in those threads. You just parse through the topics pertaining to Human rights. As you're doing now and as Morey did 11 years ago. Yao Ming wasn't just "any old" human rights story as Morey had a professional stake in it. The same stake that you seem to think he has now. He chose to remain silent but because he isn't as wealthy as Lebron you are making excuses for him.

Daryl Morey was the GM for the last 4 seasons of Yao Ming's career and never said a word about the actions of China's Govt.

When he had financial skin in the game (employment) he was just as silent as anyone on the subject of Chinese atrocities.

He'd very likely get Ming's family imprisoned if he did.
