Dear Mitch Rosen,

I love talking sports in the morning. The almost 120 minutes I have listened so far have affirmed my thought that Mully and Hanley are the best thing the Score has going right now and deserve to sit in the morning slot.

Thanks,
Hawkeye Vince

Do they really need them to do 6 hours though?

Are they raising money for charity?

You'd think they could get someone in for 10a-12p just to try them out.

Dare I say (and its not sayin much) that this is already the best Morning Show in Score History? even if its for a day.

Shaer, Shear Memelo, Bull and Bear w/ Memelo, Murph and Fred, North Shitfest.

I think this is an easy call.

Probably not, but it might have been a scramble staffing the AM show this morning. You'd think though that Fred could've done the 2-hour shift. Unless (gasp) he's in NYC with North...

I think everybody knew what was happening on Friday after North's show was over.

I have guarded optimism. I just caution everyone not to get too excited yet. As has been mentioned before with other hosts being off the air before an extension was signed, it's not like we're 100% out of the woods yet....

did TGreen really have to print false rumors?!
"North has said that CBS Radio wants him to return as the Score's morning host. But he apparently is unsatisfied with management's offer and has had discussions with numerous outlets in Chicago, including WLS-AM 890."
NUMEROUS OUTLETS?! WLS?! I don't believe none of it.

I was only able to listen to about ten minutes of the show on my way to work, but I was very impressed with Mully & Hanley. The show was 100 times better than the MNMS. If M & H get the morning gig, I think I will be officially saying goodbye to Mike & Mike in the morning (at least until football season).

After Annie was let go I exchanged a few e-mails with her and she told me that the show was supposed to be sports/news talk format and that's why they brought her in.

But North's "worldly" views (and barely concealed racism) did not sit well with listeners and they wanted to go back to sports only, thus exit Annie.

But North has continued to inflict his chest thumping, softball-moron mentality on the listeners in spite of Score management's directives to stick to sports and the ratings dropped.

He was his own worst enemy, I especially didn't like how he would use the Score for personal vendettas i.e. the Michael Strahan setup.

The Score has a history of their guys being off the air in the midst of negotiating an agreement near its end. Bernstein and Boers did the same thing, so North being in the same situation doesn't seem all that unusual. He'll be back with a new contract or he'll be gone. I suspect he'll be back on the air at a lower salary and with a new co-host and producer, etc. when he realizes there are no other offers. He will take the only deal on the table. But I wouldn't make much of him not being on the air until until it's resolved.

That's cute Steve. The context of that sentence is that I don't believe this is a one-day thing. I don't think he will be back UNTIL he has a new contract. You apparently did not read the next sentence, where I actually did make a prediction:

I suspect he'll be back on the air at a lower salary and with a new co-host and producer, etc. when he realizes there are no other offers.

Here is another prediction: Steve Sarley will understand what he reads. Or not.

I think the Score should tell him that every day he waits to sign their previous offer makes that offer $50,000 a year less. Then watch him squirm like a little bitch even worse than he already is. Hopefully they don't though because I want him nowhere near my Sports Radio stations ever again.

Actually, a lot of stations do that so you are correct, but being highly critical of your bosses on the air while your ratings have steadily dropped isn't much of a negotiating strategy.

I'm guessing this is a token, low ball offer by the Score, the strategy being that North's ego will refuse it and he'll leave on his own so they don't have to deal with him anymore.

I refuse to believe that North will put aside his ego. He thinks he's worth more than he is and will try and prove it.

If Mike takes the offer at a lower price, I'm sure he and the Score will figure out how he can try to appear to save face. Ego is part of any public person's job. But you can't eat ego. And how much ego does he lose if he is off the air and out of the game entirely? Joining with a good co-host and producer (which, by my defintion, excludes everyone now working at the Score) could give North a rebirth, lead to a better show, higher ratings and new life. He'll surely see that as a better and only chance to recapture the glory than being off the air.

Would Mully & Hanley be good? They certainly would be better than the North show in its current incarnation. But would they be good enough to earn the revenues they need to earn in morning drive? I don't know, but there are others who surely could be better. They just aren't working for the Score right now.

Not I. Wasn't listening. Gasp, how could I not listen to must-listen, car-wreck radio?!? Well, y'know, you listen so I don't have to!

But this AM's show was very nice. Hey, they're talking to Stoney again! Ask him the same questions, see if it's the same essay answer!

I can only tell you this. I stopped listening to the Score entirely because of North. Well, also Berns and Borestein...

The Score created a monster in North and at this stage of his life I don't believe he can change or will accept being told to change. I also don't believe he can accept anything but being The Star.

Remember that North started out as a side attraction, he took advantage of the shock-jock mentality and became what he is today. The problem is people are sick of shock-jocks telling them what to think and North is now a relic. He has some tough decisions ahead of him.

This is the first time in years that I flipped on 670 on my morning drive and didn't change it back to the commercials on 1000 within 30 seconds. I actually listened to (and enjoyed) the all sports conversation for about 10 minutes before it even struck me that Mike North was supposed to be on....and hopefully it can stay this way.
It reminded me how bad Mike & Mike are when matched up against real sports talk competition.

I suppose we would need to ask Garry Meier

So, you didn't catch M&M discussing the Hall of Fame worthiness of Curt Schilling?

Because I don't think they fully fleshed this out last week or on the 10 minute Sportcenter segment that I saw over the weekend.

I can only look forward to listening to the exact same discussion when, oh, I don't know....THE GUY ACTUALLY RETIRES!!

If you listened to both White Sox/Cubs' weekend games on 670 "The SCORE" & the White Sox Radio Network, I didn't hear Mike North's voice, let alone P.A. voice Gene Honda, read any promos for "Pappy's" show once going to commercial. I think that's a sign right there that the end is truly near for North. He can go back to selling hot dogs like he used to before he got into Chicago radio...

Interesting as well was at the beginning of Murph's show, he said someone came up to him over the weekend and said how much they liked the "wah wah wah wah" he does over this song (yeah I know). Of course Murph always says it's for North, but today he just said it was for "our guy"....I wonder if the station has instructed everyone to not mention him?

Fore sure, Mully and Hanley were on channel 9 this morning to talk about the Cubs/Sox series and the girl kept on bringing up North and they more or less ignored her.

I think this is WSCR calling Mikes bluff, I dobt he has bought back a offer and now they are sitting him. Plus the crap he pulled on Friday, dumb on his part, this is were Mike shows his lack of smarts.
