This is a bullshit argument. Virtually every teacher works approximately 7-4 plus a couple hours each night grading plus many hours grading and lesson planning on weekends. Then they pay out of pocket for many things in their classroom.

They put in hours closer to asphalt crews who only work 2/3-3/4 of the year.

Every profession has little things it has to do with personal money or time. There are jobs that don't make as much as teachers that require 24/7 availability. There are jobs that don't earn a paycheck because they are solely commission-based. There are small business owners who don't know if they will put food on the table. There are industrial workers who develop various forms of cancer, breathing problems, or skeletal disorders. There are jobs like waiters and waitresses where the person is mentally and physically exhausted after each shift and get by on less than minimum wage plus tips.

Yet the only profession we constantly hear complaining that they're "owed" something more is one with a guaranteed decent paycheck, great benefits, a pension, a guarantee not to ever lose their job, and one-third of the year not even working. Wonder why?

Because those who want to demean them trumpet feigned outrage for all to hear. Drumming up support from the ignorant and ignorant childless.

There isn't a lot of data on private schools but most suburban school districts aren't great. Outside of paying for private school you would almost always be better off at a selective enrollment school than a suburban school.

There are more quality suburban schools than quality CPS schools. The best bet for raising kids is getting them to a nice suburb.

The highest quality and best paid teachers are out here. 211. 203. 214. Etc.

The best public grade schools and high school are found in Chicago. Most aren't entirely selective enrollment either.
