if say he had to leave the radio landscape for a year or two due to no real offers? If he had alot of time to reflect on where it all went wrong could it make a difference in him? Could he come back in 18 months and be the old Mike North? The one from the early 90's that people actually enjoyed.

I say the answer is no. Especially if Mully and Hanley put up nice numbers in Pappy's spot and actually beat Mike and Mike. I think that's possible too.

Other stations will look at that and say, if Mr. Chicago couldn't succeed at the perfect station for him to succeed, why should we hire him?

I mean, he's failed at general/politic talk. He's just an idiot discussing anything. So why would any other station want him if he failed at sports as well? ESPN 1000 is the only other sports station. He's not going there.

Mully and Hanley was very, very good this morning. If Mike is going to insist on not changing his approach to his show, he will never turn it around, because its radio no one cares about.

The Chicago sportsradio landscape is better WITH Mike North vs. without him. Not in the current format though. Square peg, round hole.

Sorry Beef, I have to disagree. His ego has gotten too big and I doubt he can change. He has been an embarrassment to Chicago radio since he moved to morning drive time. What he has to offer is no longer attractive to prime time. Overnight, maybe, but not prime time.

The Washington Nationals have a better chance of turning things around than North.

Guys, he's been bad as a solo act in all three prime daytime slots. To me, the afternoon slot is indicative of what he'd do with a partner, given as how he had one in Buffone. Not the strongest of partners. but a partner.

(Of course, Buffone was supposed to originally go with North to the morning shift, but he (wisely) opted out of that. Personally, I think we'd still be here now, with Buffone in for Huebner, because Fred's not the problem with the morning show, either)

My point: he's been an embarrassment to Chicago radio (whatever that means) since he first went solo. That's 100% of the time. In a better world, a stronger-than-Buffone would have replaced Jiggs on Monsters, and egos would have been checked, and no-one would have panicked and overpaid for the guy when a NYC rumor came up... Didn't happen.

You put North on for 2-3 hours in the afternoon in an interview laden show, he'd succeed.

Sure he'd have to take a pay cut - but then again, he'd be working fewer hours and sleeping in.
