So it's a...sequel? Modern day reinterpretation?

Sequel.

Jeremy Irons is playing old Adrian Veidt.

I’ll give you the hint that it’s based after the events of watchmen, and old Adrian Veidt is one of the main characters.

You could prolly piece together the trailer with those clues.

From the article you posted:

The new Watchmen is neither a sequel nor a remake. That’s clear in the teaser which makes major use of a signature Watchmen visual — the ink-splotch mask of Rorschach — but has no correlation to any of the events depicted in the comics.

They say that, but then you read it’s a continuation of the graphic novel and they will be referencing the GN heavily throughout the show.

My gut is telling me they want us to view this as a new story.

i remember hearing about this a little while back. originally, this is what terry gilliam wanted to do when he had been attached (briefly) to the project decades ago. although he joked he needed to make it a "10 hour long movie".

snyder wasn't the right person to make the film, but it's grown on me over the years. it still has probably the best opening credits sequence in film history.

i don't know how much interest i'd have in this. it's my favorite graphic novel besides "the sandman" and "from hell", but my obsession with it ended a long time ago. and i think i agree with alan moore about it being in the "right medium" for what it was, and didn't need an adaptation after all.

The concept at least seems pretty cool.

Alan Moore hates any adaptation of his work.

The opening title is great. The ending is better than the book, but the rest was just blue penis...er, I mean just okay.

I'm not sure if there is a more overrated work than Watchmen. It's fine, but it gets talked about like it's War and Peace.

I enjoyed Leftovers though. And it seems like like this producer enjoys creating television shows about the end of the world. I'll check it out.

More interested in Confederate if HBO is still making that. I used to like the Harry Turtledove alternative histories back in the day.

I'll be able to watch the premiere before my HBO Now cancels on Monday. Will try to finish Righteous Gemstones by that time...couple episodes left. If Watchmen premiere is good, then I will likely re-up the subscription once Westworld Season 3 comes out. I don't think it will be captivating enough to immediately resub.

Can't have too many streaming subscriptions or my girlfriend will never stay on top of handling my laundry.

You have to be withholding. Keeps them in line.

Just caught it tonight. Good pilot. I’m sufficiently intrigued for next week.

I very much also enjoyed the opening episode.

It’s prolly not going to be popular amongst a certain type of American tho.

I forgot about this, so I probably won't be able to check this thread in the future in order to avoid spoilers. But I'll ask toward the end of the season if you all enjoyed.

I watched the first five minutes but then my boy wanted to watch SNF with me so I changed the station. I recorded it but I'm sure our queue is full as my wife records every channel at all times, except the shows I want to watch.

This will end up in the pile with The Walking Dead to view maybe after the Super Bowl.

I liked the watchmen movie enough but it wasn't so compelling that I feel a need to follow it around

I watched it instead of the second half of MNF. I might have to rewatch it...there was a lot going on.

Did the cabbage have any significance or was it just a throwable vegetable?
