It's one of the better pilot episodes I've seen in years and Lindelof is responsible for the best tv show of the past 10 years. I'd be surprised if it isn't good.

I'm ready to like this show but that pilot episode was just confusing.

I didn't read the comics. I watched that movie a long time ago and remember not thinking much of it.

I do have some background on the world this story is in and I still have no idea what that was about.

I'll keep watching though. I've heard good things.

One of the parts that may be confusing to some:

In the comics it was an inter dimensional alien invasion orchestrated by Veidt that brought the world together.

In the movie it was nuclear type explosions orchestrated by Veidt that were blamed on Dr. Manhattan.

Apparently, there is still some sort of rift open that rains little alien squids.

What happened to Don Johnson was that payback from Django?

Loved the pilot to be honest. Those of you confused it isn’t really supposed to be much of a continuation of the graphic novel\movie. There will be some nods but not enough that you need to have read or seen it. Like the leftovers or lost I wouldn’t expect to have answers anytime soon in this show.

I never knew about Black Wall Street so that is pretty interesting to say the least. The Rorschach mask being the face of the new KKK is also interesting with the political climate as it is.

Believe it was romaine lettuce iirc. Might have significance it was mentioned by the police. It also might have been just that simple retaliation because he said he was hauling lettuce when asked and refused to be searched so after shooting him he was all like “here’s your fucking lettuce bro”

Agreed. I heard him described as right-leaning in the comics. Is that accurate? From the little I've read about the comics that didn't come up.

There were press releases a while ago saying the show wasn’t going to follow the graphic novel or movie, but since then I’ve read it will follow the graphic novel storyline.

There is even a companion website that helps to fill in the blanks since the end of the initial story.

You could def describe the character as conservative, but I don’t recall any white supremacist vibes.

It appears Lindelof may be trying to show the audience how a message can get twisted.

I'm hoping for good things but, being honest, I didn't think The Leftovers was that great.

The performances by Carrie Coon and Justin Theroux were great. I just didn't think the story held together very well.

I heard an interview of him on NPR driving in this morning. It sounded like he wanted to impose some political message on the story and spun the wheel to decide it would be racism

I found the first episode well made but totally disjointed. It felt shoehorned to show a well shot scene about a post-WW1 race riot into a futurist comic book movie. I’ll watch a few more.
