A) Trump taking credit for an operation whose success was likely ensured at least in part by the sacrifices of the Kurds is repulsive.

B) Stork's assertion that the inability to eradicate extremist ideology with military force justifies quietism is most certainly absurd. I provided an obvious historical example to expose this absurdity. As they say in the White House: Deal with it.

In the long history of stupid Nazi comparisons this is up there. Fighting an ideology just means endless war.

Except the fight is against people, not ideas. Thus Stork's assertion is, as I have said, absurd.

For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.

There are different reasons people vote the way they do. Your correct thought is no or more less correct than somebody else's correct thought. And I think it's way out of line to question Drebin's morality.

What the fuck man. This president is a fucking embarrassment, corrupt as fuck, trashed a true war hero in McCain, and dodged the draft. Don’t fucking say us veterans love him. We don’t.

Key word.

You do your fellow service members a dishonor supporting this guy. It’s not a republican vs Democrat thing. It’s a moral question and you’re failing.

That's funny.

McCain as a veteran? Good guy. As a politician? Utter failure and disgrace.
Dodged the draft? Many people dodged the draft- Clinton, Biden, Ali, etc.; hope you don't support anyone who did that. He received a medical waiver-better than BJ Clinton fleeing to Canada.
Trump as an embarrassment? Not even close; he represents the party I've wanted to see-conservative, not fake-ass RINOs. I grew up listening to Rush Limbaugh- his views and takes on political issues are what I've wanted in a Republican president- a fighter who doesn't bow to the mainstream media and their lapdogs in the Democratic party. I served during the Bush terms and saw the left call him Hitler and a dictator (still using those terms today/big surprise); he never fought back and it pissed me off.
After watching the previous President apologize and bend over to foreign nations (Hi Iran!), its nice seeing someone putting America first and holding other nations accountable. I used to think Jimmy Carter was the worst President in modern times; nope, its Obama (btw, I reenlisted during Obama's first term/country first, politics second).

You are entitled to your views (as am I), but you'll never hear me saying you're doing a dishonor to me and other veterans who support Trump.

Have a blessed day.

You must not have understood a lot of Limbaugh's programs then if you believe he has historically championed the same platform as Trump. Through most of his career, Limbaugh advocated in favor of free trade agreements such as NAFTA and was a Hawk supporting U.S. military interventions across the globe. These positions are antithetical to those of Trump.

Rush took over the Republican party 3 decades ago. He had the most influential voice until Trump was elected. Ellen is essentially the new Oprah.

There was a time when JORR dismissed the accomplishment of Obama killing Bin Laden by saying "Anyone would have done that" and now he's praising the death of a terrorist very few people know and trumpeting the success of a good economy that Trump inherited. Of course he voted for Obama twice and would NEVER support Trump. He's not a supporter, remember?

*I am not calling JORR a racist.

Darn right! JORR is just parroting right-wing talking points because he's a champion of objectivity!

What are the "right wing talking points" I'm parroting? You seem really right wing with your sudden credulity for "intelligence community" narratives. Is it your objectivity, left wing bonafides, or simple Trump hatred that has caused you to become a supporter of secret courts?

Your ongoing assertion that there is a "Deep State coup" attempting to dethrone Trump is most certainly a right-wing talking point, as is your process-based objection to the impeachment inquiry.

As for my beliefs, I certainly don't support "secret courts". But as you know, the Democrats have promised public hearings if/when they decide to move forward with impeachment. If these public hearings are not conducted, I would certainly agree that the impeachment process violates basic concepts of fairness. Incidentally, though, I don't recall your opposition to private depositions when Hillary Clinton was being investigated vis a vis Benghazi. Maybe I'm wrong, though. Can you point me to any posts you made criticizing the Republicans on this issue?

And your example was awful. We did not defeat an ideology in WW2. We defeated Germany and the Axis Powers. There were and still are self-described Nazis or people who have similar views today.

Good point. But that's true of any military intervention--they're always fights against people. So you've just further illustrated the absurdity of your original claim.

I'm willing to have a civil conversation with you, but you'll have to first stop claiming that you showed some "absurdity" in my argument when you clearly have not.

Who are we fighting in the Middle East and how do we know once we've defeated them?

It seems to me that Republican efforts to suppress the black vote over the past couple decades--as documented by Greg Palast and others--constitutes a more serious and far-reaching violation of the Constitution than anything that has happened to Donald Trump. I would say, then, that the "voting thing" we've been doing has been more than a little bit of a sham for quite some time.

How prevalent is voter suppression and do you have data on it (from a not left or right leaning source)?

The Right has been much more proactive and unified. The Left are too busy tripping over themselves and disorganized.

Spaulding, you do have a tendency to default to a position of "Whataboutism" when presented with shitty behavior from the Right...although you're not alone by a Longshot.
