I had seen her in a few TV shows (SNL, Bored to Death) and thought she was good in those roles, so I thought I'd give her new Netflix special a try. This wasn't just not funny, it was embarrassingly bad. The stand up material was awful and the interviews at her childhood home with her family, which I assume were supposed to be endearing in addition to supporting the material in her act, were dull.

In a backstage interview she described the nature of her stage fright. As she repeatedly wiped away tears, she said doesn't earn the audience's love unless she gives them something beautiful and her stage fright comes from someplace deeper...that exchange. :roll:

It was a little over an hour and I watched the whole thing because I figured it had to get better. The whole thing couldn't be this bad.

I was wrong on both accounts.

I watched this piece of garbage for 55 minutes. I assumed that the last 5 minutes would make the previous 55 a not complete waste of time.

It seems like Netflix has signed every comedian who has shown any promise to a development deal and they are stuck having to host all their shitty content.

Most standup sucks. Even the greats seem to only hit on about 50% of their creations.

Meh, it's cheap and easy content. You can probably film a stand-up special with a crew of 3 guys and edit it in the same night. It's an easy win, and these not well known comedians are probably taking pennies just for the exposure.

Netflix better step up its game for when Disney+ comes in. They keep putting out this garbage standup and original content crap.

I already cancelled Netflix when Disney+ comes out. I don't watch anything on it, and the stuff my kids watch is moving. I won't miss it.
