At least you can afford one of those replica WS rings that fans can buy.

I don't think he cares. He got his payday

He doesn't care. It's all about being paid. Getting the most money.

But, though he doesn't care cuz he got the most money, it has to at least sting a little bit. Knowing that missing your 300 million dollar ass didn't matter for your former team.

Hurts worse for the Phillies. They paid $300M to a guy who made his former team worse with his presence.

You act like it was the same team as last year but for Harper and his exclusion is a reason they won the WS.

The guy is 27 and on a good team. I assume he will get his chance at a ring before his career is over, to go along with the 300 million and a HOF plaque

He turned down $300M for 10 years from the Nationals and ended up with $330M for 13 years.

He's got a long way to go to get to the HOF. Altuve is already in the parking lot.

I'll wait to see how they look at the end. Altuve will be 30 early next season. Harper will be 27 throughout.

According to the Bill James HOF monitor index, where 100 is an average Hall of Famer and 130 is a cinch, Altuve is at 120 and Harper is at 64.

The Cubs being really bad from 2011-2014 really took me out of the loop. All these dudes on the Astros are already Hall of Famers, apparently, and I guess I just plain missed it.

The Astros definitely developed more prospects, or at least developed the good ones better, than the Cubs.

is that cumulative?

Harper is about to enter his prime, might even still be before it (if prime is 28-31, which I think was a Bill James thing as well). Altuve is ending his prime.

It really wouldn't shock me to see Harper play another 15 years.

It's a combination. Altuve has three batting titles, four 200-hit seasons, an MVP and three top-10 MVP finishes. Harper had one monster MVP season and no other top-10 finishes.

Harper is a couple years younger so he will do some compiling, but I have a feeling he'll never return to that 2015 form.

people keep saying "but he got paid!"

and i'm like, yeah, he got an extra 30 million dollars. this peabrain rattling around in my head is having hard time sorting out what more you can do with 330 million dollars than you could with 300 million.

i think 300 mil+WS ring vs 330 mil w/no ring is a pretty easy decision.

THAT SAID its early. I'm certain he'll get his at some point.

THIS

He had $300M no matter where he went.

And i wouldn't count on the HOF plaque so soon.
