Our city didn't do it but I can't believe the poor message to kids that when begging for something with an implied threat that it can only be done in perfect weather. There is no way we are winning WWIII with these kids.

I'll also include any place that wants to move Halloween to always be a Saturday. The Russians aren't waiting until Saturday to attack.

Seconded...plus, it’s not like some kids won’t still come on the 31st, so you have to man the door two days

Most of my Halloweens growing up were the last Sunday afternoon in October, noon to 4 so you were back in before the sun even went down. LG proper did it this way, Pell Lake and the trailer park were on normal Halloween night, which I'm sure was very spooky indeed if you've ever been to Pell Lake. Trick-or-treating in broad daylight was a bummer (though Halloween '94 wasn't a hell of a lot better, we didn't make it off our street before we gave up the kid-dressed-up-as-a-ghost and went to my grandparents' house). Never really got into Halloween after we moved.

One time when I was a little kid I was eating breakfast the next morning and someone rang the doorbell. Probably a high schooler, we lived by Hersey. My parents were amused enough by the absurdity to give him some leftover candy.

I don't understand why cities got in the business of regulating trick or treating anyway. It has happened organically for centuries.

Lake Geneva was always pretty short on residential streetlights, so it was probably a safety concern for the little munchkins more than fear of roving masked preteens under cover of night.

Trick-or-Treating, or city regulation overreach?

i don't really get this. So if they "officially" move the day and you're out trick or treating on the "wrong" day (31st) , are the cops going to stop you or something ?

I could see Julie's pal Missysaurusrex (who will be home anyway since she can't work due to her anxiety) tweeting something like:

Womyn "man" the door, too.

Agreed. Deal with the weather, or find a mall or somewhere that offers indoor trick or treating.

Is she the one who said that all the people who deliver food to her door should wear uniforms so she feels safe?

A couple years ago when I was living in Warrenville, some kids were out trick or treating around 7:10-7:15ish on my block. I guess the designated time for Warrenville was 3:00-7:00. Anyways, the cop throws the lights on, gets out of the car to talk to them, and makes them go home. What a turd. If they were in blackface he probably would have shot them.

Probably. IIRC she is the person who got yelled at by her Uber driver for something and tweeted she had to lock herself in her apt. afterward because she feared for her life.

My kids have a love/hate relationship with PJ Masks. They were really into it until about 6 months ago. Now, it's pretty much all Scooby all the time. I mean, hell, they went dressed as Velma and Daphne yesterday

I didn't have a single trick or treater. Too bad for them because they would have gotten a LOT of candy.

Had my first trick or treater in 24 years of living in Chicago, sort of. Came home and saw a couple kids in costume in the lobby waiting for an Uber with their moms. I grabbed my bowl of candy and went out and met them in the hall and dumped half the bowl in each of their buckets.

Same. I don't even like candy all that much. I'll probably end up just bringing the bag into work

That's what I did. 150 pieces of candy in the break room.

Is Scooby-Doo making a comeback?

If you drop your leftover candy off at a VFW or Legion hall, they will send it in their care packages to troops overseas.

Legal marijuana has repercussions.

Not all of them do this, but the vast majority do or will at least get it to another hall that will ship the candy out.
