I’m in a good mood tonight. Dirk will soon be the 2nd best Mavs player and 2nd best Euro ever.

The Caine Munity by Herman Wouk. A fantastic novel which won a Pulitzer. As you read it, tell me which contemporary world leader Queeg reminds you of.

Work on your anger my friend. There’s a good person lurking somewhere in you.

No there isn't

I recommend you get the Kindle Cloud app. But since you're going to a book store, I'll go with some classics for recommendations. Killer Angels(Jeff Shaara) or In Cold Blood(Truman Capote).

I’ve done the kindle thing and I decidedly don’t care for it. I spend enough time looking at screens.

But aren't book stores just mostly filled with Richard Patterson and Michelle Obama/Jordan Peterson tripe?

I wouldn’t know. I enter one every few years and find a couple things and am usually satisfied with the result.

You can probably find some Raymond Chandler ("The Big Sleep") or Dashiell Hammett ("The Maltese Falcon.") Not heavy lifting, but the rhythm in the the language is part of the enjoyment.

Buy a book about any painter or visual artist (not a film director) that you admire or even have a passing interest in from the best 100 years. You will enjoy it and learn something.

I thought "My Name is Dolemite" was pretty good. Its blaxploitation "Ed Wood."

Try some classic works like Plato or Aristotle.

End result. GoT was probably unnecessary but it was $7 and I’m sure I’ll read it eventually. I’ll start with Doc’s recommendation on top.

Devil in the White City was good, although I was found the story about Olmsted, Burnham, and how they pulled together the World's Fair far more interesting than the story about H.H. Holmes. I would also recommend Dead Wake: The Last Crossing of the Lusitania by the same author.

If you like basketball I think you would like Loose Balls, The Short, Wild Life of the American Basketball Association by Terry Pluto.

Excellent review and advice.
