My heart can't take this shit.

At 28-3 I stopped even checking the score. I can't believe this.

This feels overdue. Lovie Smith, for all our sturm und drang, was a legitimate NFL coach for a really long time. I know he inherited one of the biggest shitshows in the country and had to tear it all up and start over, but didn't this have to happen eventually? I don't do college football, and barely NFL, but I feel like he should be running roughshod over all these red-faced gym teachers who couldn't dream of losing a Super Bowl.

It's amazing the way Lovie's teams can create turnovers. It's recognizable.

With kids it takes longer to teach the system.

One could argue that he never should have been fired.

If the Bears had waited one more year to let him go they could have avoided a lot of trouble.

They played without their top 3 defensive players today.

Lovie is certainly a good defensive coach, but he knows nothing about offense and can't evaluate talent particularly well.

WOW.

Just saw this. Lovie was on the Score last week and he already said they were talking bowl game, which is very unlike him. What a job by him.

Yeah, on defense and offense.

Congratulations on the win!

Can't wait to see the Illini play in the Nihilist Arby's Bowl!

Me either. An extra month of practice for next year.

And I love Arby’s. Medium Roast Beef with Horsey and Arby’s sauce.

Nobody knows who I am and I don’t have any precious possessions except my signed Ron Zook football.

So I might be OK.

Lovie is fine but this is not accurate at all

Big Ten coaches have pedigree - hes not even the only coach in the B10 to make it to a super bowl. Calling them gym teachers is just stupid

Plus theres a lot that goes into getting to a sb. Lovie had a lot of talent and was liked by the players. It was not some great strategy that got him there. He is no more pedigreed than other b10 coaches.

I like him and hope he keeps doing good tho.

If Lovie has any sense of humor he will dress as black santa on the sidelines of his bowl game. At least wear the hat.

Sir's stories about how much lovie hated him will become relevant again

Losing to NW should be a fireable offense.

Punchless without Imatorbhebhe, but this poor tackling is the real culprit. NU's offense is really bad. I dunno, maybe the NU QB is a skilled scrambler, but it looks like he is moving in slow-motion out there.
