At least you're consistent in believing in a bunch of garbage instead of science.

Farmer’s almanac was fairly accurate about the weather around these parts last year.

Tom Skilling has them at about a 50% accuracy rate, with rates right around guessing and only slightly better than the Groundhog.

Quote:
"The National Weather Service is forecasting 170 potential daily record cold high temperatures Monday to Wednesday,” tweeted Weather Channel meteorologist Jonathan Erdman. "A little taste of January in November."

High temperatures on Monday may be stuck in the teens and 20s in the Midwest and around the Great Lakes. It could be the coldest Veterans Day on record in cities such as Chicago and Minneapolis, according to the Weather Channel.

By Tuesday, record cold is possible in the Northeast, Ohio Valley and portions of the South. Highs may get only into the 30s as far south as Alabama.

The Florida Panhandle may shiver with lows in the 30s Wednesday and Thursday morning. Low temperatures may fall below freezing all the way to the Gulf Coast. The most intense cold will be in the northern Plains where temperatures may fall below zero.

"Overall, these temperatures are not life-threatening cold, as this will be a relatively quick Arctic blast. But this truly is an unprecedented cold snap for early November," Erdman said.

Looking like 2-6 inches this evening into tomorrow, which is probably average for this board.

Calling for 4-5 inches of lighter snow just over the WI border. Fired up snowblower yesterday and will likely tackle it on my lunch break or after work.

It snowed. Whatever.

The roads from Gurnee to Wheeling were awful, with the exception of a small stretch of Libertyville. Nothing salted.

Not much if anything salted here in Orland/Tinley as well. Of course you have jackasses driving too slow and others driving too fast. You can't do 50mph on the untreated roads, but you can move quicker than 20mph.

Maybe 3/4" of an inch on grassy surfaces. Just now starting to cover the pavement. Can't imagine we'll get any more than about 2-3" total.

It appears that most suburbs don't salt things.

Which, at least up north, is not normal. I'm used to Wheeling taking 2 days for roads not to suck when it snows. Gurnee, Libertyville, Grayslake, Mundelein, Vernon Hills are usually pretty good...and they're usually good about laying salt down before it starts, too. I mean, last night, we had freezing rain at about 8:30-9.

At a work conference at Eagle Ridge in Galena. Couldn't get up one of all the damn hills to the main lodge where the conference is in my tiny Nissan Sentra so I had to turn around and go back. Started snowing around 9 last night and still going.

83, Butterfield, Rte 60, and Milwaukee Ave. were all not plowed. It took 50% longer to get to work than normal.

I should be getting an email from Bob Gardiner at Lake County Stormwater Mgmnt. Commission soon and will post it.
