It's not really that big of a deal. It really only would effect people who cross the Indiana border to "the region" but Indiana already sets that time zone to be the same as Chicago.

You can't have time zones different over populous areas, there is a reason one part of Indiana is EST and the "Region" is central time. It would cause an issue for people that travel for school/work, etc between the areas. I can't believe the morons in the Illinois legislature don't realize this.

Doesn't seem like a great idea to have kids waiting for the bus in the dark.


The Northwest Indiana counties would surely follow whatever time Illinois chooses to be on, but we're ignoring what this would mean for our own version of The Region with the rest of greater St. Louis being on a different time than the Metro-East.

the economic ramifications of this are so great for Illinois. People don't spend money at 7:00 in the morning, they spend it in the evening and its scientific (at least its seems like it would be) that more people spend money in the afternoons when its light out. When people get out of work and its dark, its depressing, they just go home and stream shit television until its time for bed. When they get out of work and its still light, they are like hey I think I'm going to go shopping for some new drapes or some shit.
