I was struck by this statement: 'Prosecutors called the allegations “serious and aggravating,” and said the alleged actions put the victim’s safety at risk.' How would this stupid stunt put the victim at risk? Would some idiot actually call the Craiglist ad and seek out the "slave"?

I could see how it might have put the kid at risk, I guess. I don't see how this is a hate crime.

Not sure if there is more to the story or this is just shoddy reporting or what.

Yeah, different times for sure. There was always tension between those who wore Confederate flag paraphernalia and those who did not, but even those of us on the right side of that line were still casually racist and all that.

Agree with many here. Why school involved is a question I usually have about a lot of crimes that happen away from there. The thing that puzzled me also was the DA syays the allegations are “serious and aggravating,” and said the alleged actions put the victim’s safety at risk.' In the link the judge orders the kid to not do anythingmore at school or whatever after released on I bond.

Is it usual for serious and aggravating race offenders putting people at risk to get I bonds and allowed back in school?
