I've been thinking about this for a while. College gameday has the right amount of fun with its information. It has old coots yucking it up a little but it doesn't seem as forced as EVERY NFL pre, half and post game show.

I could sit down on a Saturday and watch gameday for 30+ minutes and feel both informed and entertained. The NFL show just shovel bs and I don't find a single person across all the channels likeable.

Because the college tailgate experience and fan base is vastly superior to the NFL 's. And not nearly as meatbally as the NFL's. Except at Columbus.

And I'm not trolling.

College campuses have a ready made group of people who are there and available to come out and party at 6 in the morning for a tv show that starts at 9.

I'm guessing Fox, after having reinvented the pregame show in 1994, has gotten just as hidebound as CBS was by the end and feels there's no reason to change what's been working fine enough all these years. If a pregame show ever does move away from the forced bonhomie of ex-jocks and a straight-man black guy, it'll probably be about clockwork-oranging the viewer with gambling information.

Besides the fans aspect, I also think there's a far greater emphasis on maintaining professionalism and playing it safe when it comes to covering the NFL. And it doesn't even have to come directly from the league itself but can also be a product of the networks themselves choosing to present the most vanilla product possible simply because they've fearful of the risk of ever upsetting their biggest ratings winner.

I will say that that the Gameday Prime show last year with Deion, Shannon Sharpe, and LaDanian Tomlinson on the NFL Network seemed far more relaxed and fun than any of the other Sunday coverage of the sport (the closest thing to the TNT guys for basketball). And of course even that must have been too risque since this year the show now features more highlights and Chris Rose in place of Sharpe and Tomlinson.

SWUNG ON AND BELTED! :salut:

Around week 12-13 Shannon Sharpe got off one of the funniest things that I've ever heard on tv, in addition to being the most inappropriate. (It was regarding Shannon's truthfulness in picking the Chargers) It was so off color  , Clarissa Thompson almost choked and LT tossed his phone. It was scrubbed out in the very next rebroadcast in the next hour.

It was so politically incorrect and funny that yes, I dvr' d the next broadcast to see if it would make the tape.

It didn't.

I like the NFL Network coverage.

Pregame and Prime.

Big fan of Rich Eisen.

but yea, forgot about Sharpe and LT. Whyd they take them off? It feels so quiet with just Deion talkin the whole time.

Nope, about 2:25 in. and let it play to the end Charissa Thompson's responses were hilarious at the end.
