When I was in 8th grade, some douchebag wrote "Kill All Jews" on a desk. Now, my junior high school was 90% Jewish students and 70% Jewish faculty, so assuming it was a student and not a custodian, that limited the number of kids to about 25 over the course of the day. These were the types of late 70s desks that were basically moving table/chair combinations, so you could make study circles and the like, so even though your place in the classroom was the same every day, the desk changed at the custodian's whims as they cleaned the floors.
You can guess what happened: One of the more burly Jewish students asked the woke (it wasn't a word then) social studies teacher who sat in that location throughout the day. I was the only Gentile... so I had this kid come up to me and take a swing at me in the middle of the hallway. A fracas ensued with him yelling out that I wrote this nonsense, and since i was already 6'3" at the time let's just say that I held my own. We end up in the principal's office and the whole story comes out and I point out that a) the desks got moved every day, and b) the Nazis invaded Greece in WWII as well, so I'm not exactly their friend. I thought the principal was going to pass out. Everybody understood, we walked out together, and the kid made a good faith effort in the coming days to explain to people that he had made a mistake and that I was ok for a Christian.
So a couple of hours later, i walk into the offending social studies class, with a bunch of my Jewish friends who were in that class in tow. And I just start screaming at the top of my lungs at the teacher, who was this 5'3" divorced woman who until that point I wanted to fuck. Even at 13 years old, i could have beaten the living shit out of her if I had felt like it. She looks at me in complete panic and starts blabbering an apology. I read her the proverbial riot act for a good five minutes and made her apologize to me in front of the entire class at the beginning of the period. Needless to say, she didn't give me shit about anything for the next few months, and was just thankful that my parents didn't go to the superintendent.
Today... goodness knows what would have happened to me.
CCFC is low-key one of the best storytellers here.
@ltg: I am definitely not defending the kid, and I think I'd get a little tired of the "He was just joking" excuse after a while, too. I wish there were more information about this.
