NBA regular season is mostly crap. It doesn't matter. In fact the only thing that matters is health of Star players (hence load management era)

The reason no 5-8 seeds win titles is the top teams earn top seeds generally in auto pilot in regular season. If the playoffs were single game tournament like college or nfl... Then regular season would mean more. Terrible take op

This doesn't make sense. If it didn't mean anything then in theory the best teams would coast in the regular season and win during the playoffs.

They don't. The teams that are the best during the regular swason season are usually the same teams that are the best at the end of the post season.

If the regular season "doesn't matter" then this would never be the case. They would coast during the regular season for the purpose of winning the post season.

Cleveland was the one seed one time in the four year run Lebron just had. His last year they were the 4 seed. In Miami the Bulls were the one seed twice while he was there.

Thibbs used to get a lot of shit for caring too much about the regular season.

When you're done the #1 seed has won 72% of the time.
Which sport has a % which exceeds that?

I will save you some trouble. None.

Since 2000 there have only been 2 No. 1 seeds that have won the Super Bowl.

1 game versus series makes that kind of an apples to bowling balls comparison.

Now we are back to process. It is the NFL regular season which doesn't matter. NBA champions usually come from teams with the best regular season record.

NFL Super Bowl winners typically are found in those that don't have the best record. With this being the case it is the NFL regular season record that doesn't really matter.

If the NBA was a one game elimination, those numbers change drastically. If the NFL was a best of seven those numbers also change drastically.

That still doesn't explain why the No.1 seed in the NBA wins 72% of the time. If it didn't matter they'd coast during the regular and gear up for the playoffs much more often.

7 games series the better team wins. Lebron was the one seed 3 times in 8 years and won the Eastern Conference every time.

You're actually proving why the NBA regular season matters.

Teams with %equal to 9-7:don't win NBA championships. 10-6 either. In the NFL they do.

In the NBA 1-2 seeds have won 86% of the time.

Means regular season matters. When you have to get down to the also rans in order to prove a point then it means you don't have much.

The Thibb's led Bulls proved being the one seed doesn't matter. It is about having the best players healthy when the playoffs start.

Since the Regular Season doesn't matter then you should be able to tell me who both the Number seed in each conf and the NBA champuon will be right now.

From the idiot that stlll has no answer as to why none of the other leagues surpass the 72% rate that i posted. That effectively killed all the discussion right there.

You can't say that NBA reg season doesn't matter (you can because you're stupid and don't understand the point) then ignore the primary reason why it matters.

The NBA regular season has been shown to be the predicate for determining who the next winner will be.

Thus it matters

Lebron doesn't think it matters so I'll go with him in this NBA.

Jordan thought it mattered. He never missed games. But if he did, they would have still won six titles. It was just a different mind set.

Why does the No. 1 seed win 72% of the time and why has no 7 or 8 (only 1 6th seed) won if the regular season doesn't matter?

Still have not nor will i get an actual answer to this rather relevant question.

Barring injuries the Clippers are the favorite. Regardless of seed.

The one seed last year didn't guarantee the Bucks a spot in the finals.

Again. Lebron won the East for 8 straight years and had the best record 3 times. The Bulls had the best record twice this decade and didn't win shit.

Why was Lebron able to make the finals every year despite not being the one seed most of the time?

Apparently the Commissioner thinks the regular season is meaningless which is why he is floating the idea of multiple tournaments throughout that season.
