Is this still a thing?

I have just had it with cable, and I am about to cancel.

A year or so ago, everybody was raving about getting every channel, etc. on these fire sticks.

Is this still a thing?

Does it legit work? Or is it like the DirecTV card and has it already been burned?

Fire TV Stick 4K is on sale for $24.99 (50% off reg price) on Amazon right now. Its worth it as long as you install some valid useful apps (Mouse Toggle, Firefox, Downloader, Chrome, etc...) Also you can launch live TV or movie streaming web sites without installing some shady 3rd party apk,s. Youtube has a bunch of videos on how-to's with firestick 4k.

Because it’s not a replacement for cable. It’s just a piece of hardware that allows you to access different streaming apps similar to a tablet would. You still have to pay for those services separately.

Not exactly!.. YouTube and some other sites have tutorials on everything you need with Kodi, Firestick, or stock Android. Whether legal or not is a different story.

Ditch the cable and get a streaming package. You can get both Sling Blue and Orange or Hulu+ for under $50. Assuming you also have Netflix and/or Prime, you will have plenty to watch.
