North, who said he is mulling four offers from the "broadcasting world," will appear on Tuesday's "Chicago Tribune Live" at 5:30 p.m. on Comcast SportsNet.

Who in their right mind would have ANY interest in Mike North? There is NO chance in hell he goes to WLS or any other notable station.

I hope and pray that he gets another job here in Chicago. Not because I want to listen to him, but because I know how much it will aggravate you lot. You who spend so much time bitching about Mike North are hilarious. As much as you bash him and his product (which I'm not at all defending) his separation from The Score has been FRONT PAGE NEWS! Oh, yeah, he's really inconsequential.

You all should be happy, though. You got your wish. Now move on!

That's the most logical thing I've read all week. Good post Chimpo.

Mike North has sucked for years Beardown, and his bosses were still taking that shit from him the entire time.

Yes, Martin, they did put up with it. Why? Cuz he was under contract for 1.5 million a year. They weren't gonna eat that and it wasn't stipulated in his contract. Once that contract was over they tried to shut Pappy up with terms in his new contract. Can't blame them. Especially for a guy who sucked.

This is true. I agree. My boss would not want me publicly bad-mouthing him or his company. However, I think their industry is different. North is paid to give his opinion on exactly those things.

Look, I realize there is a point where a host could go too far with that. But, how often has North been suspended for complaining about management? Maybe he has but I don't recall any. I don't see why they would need to specifically restrict him in this manner if it had never been a problem before.

He's been suspended for many other things that they don't seem to be interested in specifically restricting him on. But, they are drawing the line on themselves now for some reason. It just seems like they are being thin-skinned.

Maybe you are right and they were just pushing him out.

In the last several weeks, North kicked up the bashing of management about 2 notches. He made it specific & personal - calling the GM stupid and incompetent. It's one thing to take a shot at Gleason or Mitch occasionally in a semi-joking manner. However, his shots at Agase were aired with venom. I love controversy as much as anyone, but quite frankly it became uncomfortable.

Tommie Harris seems to be a funny guy, but listening to him on the radio is hard on the ears. Listening to him a few times on ESPN1000, you could hardly make out what he was saying. Whether he was mumbling or maybe a bad mic, I really wouldn't want to hear him as a guest host (although the odds are I wouldn't be listening to the SCORE during that time of the day anyways).

Funniest thing I heard this morning was the Marconi commercial with North doing it. I guess they didn't pull their ads!

So the Trib's Teddy Greenstein says that "SCORE" management wanted Mike North NOT to criticize them. Whether you liked him or hated his guts, North wasn't afraid to say things and issues that were controversial and pushed the envelope. I would not want to sign any deal that muzzled you from criticizing management, when justified. There's no way he was going to sign any new contract that cut your pay in half, and not have the power to openly criticize the "powers that be". Freedom of speech? Not a chance!

WHAT?

Abbattacola is a total DOUCHE to callers. He is TEN TIMES as rude as Bernstein and.or Holmes combined. Drinky is a cock - he is what he eats.

Who do you think leaked that "detail" to Greenstein? Hmm...could it be the same guy that claimed to have the "truth" on Greenstein before, only to be proven as a liar?

I'd be willing to be every dollar I have that there was no such clause in his new contract.

Yes, employees have a right to have some sense of standard from their employers. That being said, if the standard isn't met its an issue to handle in-house.

For example, if I wasn't getting a fair shake at the office, why would I broadcast it here? I'd handle it with my superiors/through my union. I also couldn't use valuable time (time that my employer pays me to peform a task) to complain to the consumers of the product that my boss isn't treating me fairly. Mike North's time on the air was supposed to be about Sports, not his life and times story. Not about his dog, not about "his guys" about Chicago sports in particular, and sports as a whole. But since he could spout off about anything, he feels that EVERYTHING should be a subject of conversation on his show.

No Mike, once again you're wrong; your job was to comment on sports, not talk about your issue of making ONLY 800K. Hard to feel for a guy making that kind of bank talking about what is fair and unfair when you might make 1/20th of that a year.......
