So, Danny Mac has been gone a while. North is gone. Boers is a shell.

Do you really want Dan Bernstein to be the face of the station?

Is this the brand of Sports radio you want? Some arrogant know it all?

The Score was so popular that y'all created a freaking message board to talk about it.

Do you think the current gang of smug / condescending youngsters and Mully/Hanley can inspire such passion from its listeners like Pappy/Mac and the gang did?

I don't.

The Score used to be the irreverent jackass in the back of the room. It was good, IMO.

Now what are they? What's the current identity of the Score? The place where some know-it-all thinks you are stupid and his gang of not smart sycophants try and act the same way?

Any answers to this one?

Many wanted the last vestage of the great Score years gone.

What do they do going forward?

It's a radio station, not a way of life or something you can live vicariously through.

I'm going to listen to some of their programming. At the time slots where ESPN has the better show, I'll listen to that. That's radio on a "every show by its merits" as opposed to "as a way of life."

I'm very familiar with the time span you're referring to, and I think it was brilliant marketing on Seth Mason, Danny Lee's part to present a station where you feel an esprit de corps. But really, that shit left the building before they went to 1160, and certainly hasn't been around in the 670 days.

I want "SPORTS TALK" on my sports radio. Not people trying to be a shock jock or trying to be funny and entertaining.Mike North couldnt figure this part out,I tune in for the SPORTS TALK not where the fuck the host dinned the night before or his racist views on the world.Simple if you think about it!!

K4E, I've given this some thought. As a Score fan, my most enjoyable moments occurred in the first years of the Score when the fans were The Score. It seems a lot of the hosts and management at WSCR became a little full of themselves and the programming went away from being caller driven to host driven. The callers were the stars of the show. Each show seemed to have it's own loyal callers who were a big part of The Score's identity. Look at the "All Time Scoreheads" list that Big Fan compiled on the homepage. These callers really made the Score enjoyable for me. Now a lot of programs on WSCR barely take any calls and if they do, they berate the callers.

You mentioned the "smug, arrogant youngsters". I agree with you there. A lot of the young hosts/producers have talent but seem to want to emulate Boers/Bernstein in the way they treat callers. Management needs to change some attitudes over at WSCR and make the fans feel welcome again. Your boy Pappy certainly didn't do it as he refused to take phone calls most of the time.

Hey Big Partnah,

Pappy is a far cry from "my boy." I agree with many of the criticisms here of him and the show and hope that a different type of show will fit him better. Pappy didn't take calls, but he didn't revolve his show around treating the callers like idots and mocking them either.

Its just kind of sad... the old Score was never likely to return but Pappy finally being gone really does signify the death blow.

And what we're left with is kind of .... uninspiring (not that the MNMS was). Call it a wistful longing for the score of my yute.

What exactly did his show revolve around during the last 3-4 years?

I would disagree with that as I've heard both Drinky and Lawrence Holmes take tons of calls and they do listen to them and have a conversation. :?

What's the identity of the United States? What's the identity of the Republican Party? What's the identity of the City Council of Addison?

These are all pointless questions, much like the ones you pose.

Murph is the face of the Score now. He's been there since the start and his show since day 1 has always been about talking sports, no bullshit like North or Boers/Bernstien.

Well said. But I don't need passion from listeners, just some entertainment. Mully and Hanley bore me, the new kids come off as a-holes that have an answer for everything and I haven't listened to much of the afternoon show for years. I guess, as was posted, Murph is the face of the score. Just a regular guy having some fun. Everybody else has something "important" to say. I don't need important.

You fucking whiners piss me off. You want a cartoon character watch Scooby Doo. I want sports. I want legit sports inerviews by professionals.

North disrespected the fans by assuming we are all dumb. He never prepared. and his knowledge? Well lets just say North and knowledge dont ever appear in the same sentence. Remember the desert Island quiz? That was a time filler because the idiot DID NOT PREPARE. EVER!

Mulley and Hanley are pros. They dont talk about race, sex, their buddies and 1950's music. They are prepared every day and they talk sports. You dumbasses that want more than that can follow North to Toledo or Topeka or where ever and you can have fun with that.

it was nice having mike in the morning and b&b in the afternoon. you woke up to a crackhead wiseguy who woke you up and gave you the first round of sports news for the day. you got his crazy-ass opinion, then everyone else would usually counter his arguments throughout the day. by the time you get to b&b (if youre not still sleeping from the 10-noon show) you get an overly sarcastic, yet usually well grounded arguments. and they have good weekly appointment bits.... murph has been a little off for me ever since he left the 6-10pm slot. he does a great job at noon but 2 hours is just not enough for him, he always has too much on his plate to get in and it just seems too rushed. i give him mad props for going with what he has to work with though, talk about a radio station just fucking their founders in the ass....

I think it will be good to hear Mulley and Hanley in drive time. I've always enjoyed their work in late morning. Hopefully, their move leads to an expansion of Murph's show. Aside from his commercial tie-ins, he's a fun listen. Boers and Bernstein are dreadful. Kinda like "Beavis and Butthead Do Radio". Huhhuh. Huhhuh. They specialize in disrupting every discussion with stupid sound clips or their own idiocy. By comparison, they make MJ&H look like brain surgeons, when we know Jurko is as juvenile as these two. Bottom line is that Danny Mac is the only sign of intelligent life in afternoon drive sports talk. One more thought about the Score. Lawrence Holmes is always good. Maybe he could move to middays if the station doesn't want to stretch Murph's show.

The Score will survive without North. Probably improve.

Murph sucks. He never lets anyone speak and is always in a rush to get rid of them. I haven't listened to him in years. The noon business hour is a much better listen.
